Can you start being a bit more ruthless in the moderating of the site. The amount of dross thats now getting posted in the lounge is becoming a joke. Educate people towards the search facility and keep/move threads to the appropriate forum.

For instance all these "who's played this course" threads can they be moved to "Ask the experts" although I think the experts bit should be renamed with "Ask the Forum".

We also now need a popular sticky forum. How to re-grip, how to re-shaft, grip opinions/reviews in there as well. Every second day someone is asking about best grip, best ball, best shaft etc etc.

Tis the very nature of the beast though. As site traffic ups and more members come on board the same questions are bound to get asked. I generally tend to ignore grip/shaft/ball/waterproof* threads as I can only read so many of the same thing. Another thing is you have to take into account how the forum looks, at least with new threads being posted (albeit the same stuff!) it means that the forum doesn't stagnate.

I do wholeheartedly agree with the search function though but again I would imagine it is mostly new members asking the same questions.

*delete as appropriate.

P.S. on another note the amount of folk that complain when a thread gets shifted to a more appropriate section of the forum is mental!

Its thread titles that give no detail followed be some overly specific question that baffle me, then they complain that no one has an answer! Does my nut in

I do agree that a STICKY reference section would be very useful as I have recently had an issue regarding shafts.

I dont think an area showing best balls, grips etc would be very good as everything is user preference, although a sticky showing some gathered information about different manufacturers products would be good, e.g. steel shafts weight, flex, torque, tip and trajectory. This would lets you narrow options down and possible choose closely matched products from more than one manufacturer

The search function is a powerful tool, used well it will get you what you want, if it exists.
A section of stickies? Really? who decides what is worthy of being fixed permanently and then once you have over a page worth, who is going to bother leafing through them?
Search is the best option.

Work improving the forum still continues behind the scenes, for example, swear filters are in place now. Comments are taken on board and are discussed also.

i dont see how it matters , just dont read threads that dont intrest you , does it realy matter if there are multiple threads on the same subject ? is it using up space thats needed for other stuff or something ? surely every member has a right to post a thread or a comment on any subject once its within forum guide lines , i dont read the grip/ball ones or even the shoes ones any more but if someone wants to ask a question let them .. new members are not going to be aware of search or settings or other functions so it going to happen... just my opinion tho

Bob ,spelling police are now banned ..
