Carrying on from the other thread where it was suggested.

Baltray would be great, played it once and once you get to around the 6th hole turns into a war for survival :D 55-70 quid before any negotiation if they do such a thing. They do a monster fryup too.
RDC in march is around £75, less with GUI discount.
Druids Glen is around £80

Or we could just leave it to Mike and Jezz as they are long overdue over here for an event! hint hint.

Is Ian up for it before I ask round?

Baltray would be good or even Concra Wood, havent played either but heard plenty good reports about both.

Put it out there and open it up to suggestion regarding the venue, but i think Monaghan, Louth or Cavan is gonna be most accessible.

Re: Sunday November 6th

Brendy,there's a thought.

Have a GM day at the right place (near Belfast or Dublin Airport) and I reckon you would have a good few invaders especially if you get a venue worthwhile.........Baltray I would def try to go to as I was foaming at the mouth looking at it from Seapoint which in itself was very nice indeed.

Re: Sunday November 6th

Concra wood is meant to be very good some of the fellas from the golf club have played it recently and rated it very highly. Don't think I would like caven. They beat us in the bruen lol ok so we played them at lurgen but that's not the point :-)

Dodger, you are spot on, I was looking there at Druids glen, Baltray (as I said, fantastic and scary course all at the same time!)
KClub is too expensive,
RCD can be gotten reasonably (should be plenty of cars heading from belfast dublin should we get something organised)
I thought Concra Wood but its nearly as akward as Lough Erne, I cant even find prices at a quick glance.
Plenty of Donegal courses too but flights into Londonderry/Derry/stroke city might be a pain for some.
Get the suggestions in, I reckon it could be a bloody good goer.

Brendy

The course was playing very well last weekend, still dry too, been wet here since yesterday, so not sure what to expect sunday. Out for 9 thursday, so will let you know.

Also there is now an electric trolly ban on at Galgorm, so its pull or carry mate, thanks

Re: Sunday November 6th

Portstewart or Castlerock or The Valley at Royal Portrush all 3 are about an hours drive from Belfast or Larne

Re: Sunday November 6th

Well fella, CS should have been £100+ and we got on for 60 inc goody bag, stroke saver etc.
Wherever we end up it should be cheaper than book price.
When I played Baltray, I took a few pics as It was gorgeous, lost some of them but hopefully these whet yer whistle.
First tee, practice range up the left.

One of the fourball strugling with the first cut hahaha.

Finding the crossway fairway from this teebox was simply impossible!

It was a little easier from this one.....we wernt playing from this one!

The beach is some 40+ feet below and stretches as far as the eye can see.

Re: Sunday November 6th

Right Brendy im happy enough with Baltray and its probably as handy as anywhere for us all to get to.

If enough guys are up for it we can start to make some sort of plans for a date.

Maybe we could even tempt the GM guys over for a challenge ;)

I am easy, but to be honest, the day we played there the whole week had been soaking and on the day it was fine but the course was bone dry. Druids etc might not be so good and it means we could have an April date which might well be cheaper and just before the proper season for most of us begins.

Re: Sunday November 6th

Yep april would probably be best as you say we should get a decent deal and hopefully some good weather

Re: Sunday November 6th

You never mentioned that you played Baltray with Andrew Oldcorn.....now I know why he was at Castle Stuart, slumming it in a caravan with his mucker. :D

Re: Sunday November 6th

Why was that guy playing from a farmers field?

Re: Sunday November 6th

He wasnt, that was the "rough" up the side of the 2nd.
Did I mention I was 2 under after 6 then the wheels fell off when the fairways got thinner than the crackstring of a thong?

First few holes, missing fairway right was a bonus for line in, after that it is just damn impossible but still fun all the same. Not many courses I have smiled my whole way round.
