I make no apologies for writing this and if you don't like to read it then look away now.

Many, many of the forumers, that I've met, are happy chaps and on the whole positive about this great game.......but just occasionally we all take it a bit too seriously and have a bit of a rant.

Well at the moment I am looking after a guy who use to love his golf, got down to 10, and just a solid club member playing once or twice a week, sound familiar?.

Then one day he slipped, he wasn't parachuting or racing a car, he just slipped.
He's now a tetraplegic....... How much would he love to have a bad game!!!!!

There is no answer or comment for this, just remember next time things are not going quiet as well as you wish, that you have a choice to play or not, you never know you may play better with that thought in your head.

In case your wondering he enjoys watching it on tele........

sort of my dads mantra about life, 'there is always someone worse off than you' so basically its get on with it. he is now in a wheelchair and canny even wipe his arse but he's happy

I really needed to hear this teegirl, many thanks! Just back from a terrible session at the range followed by a much better session in the garden to prove I can actually hit a ball, this post was exactly what I need to remember sometimes,ta!

I know there are 1000's of people starving in the world every day but that doesn't mean I have to be happy when I open the cupboard for a snack and there's only Pot-Noodle in there

i try to tell myself that theres loads of golfers who would be happy to knock it about like i do. its a lie but it helps. ;)

hope my mate reads this. he shanked a few today and said hes taking a month off. things could be worse! get out there and enjoy it!

i posted something along the same lines in reply to a thread sometime ago , got varying answers .. its a pastime , enjoy it for what it is , & be thankful for the health to play any kind of sport , good or bad ..

I followed a family out tonight, a mum, dad and a wee kid of 8 or 9.

I started when they were on hole 2, its only a par 3 course so they saw that I could hit a ball OK. On hole 4 they called me to play up to the green. I hit a 9 iron stone dead to 5 feet.

I laughed when I got there, they said all things like "nice shot" etc and I replied with "If only I could do it all the time".

The wife quipped "We wish we could do that just once!"

I had a poor day on the greens that day but seeing those three, hacking around all over the place but with huge smiles meant what ever happend I was going to have a good time. I only played through one hole with them but they left a lasting impression on me that this game is not always about how or how many its about how much.

How much fun you have!

Yes, sobering posts. Always good to have a reality check now and then, people moaned last night that it was too hot for golf!!!!!!!!! 4 weeks ago they would have paid to get this weather, plus the fact they ARE out playing the game they love in glorious sunshine when others can only dream of this.

Good post, has helped my head about playing in a well known scratch open tomorrow......
