Those were the days

Still have some mince pies left from Christmas.

Every so often rather than£1.65 for 3 Fry’s Chocolate cream are reduced to £1 for 3.

Last time I bought 12 mint and 4 orange. I still have some left although not many!

I have only seen the mint one over here.

Racism - the most shocking I can remember were signs in the windows of B&Bs in Lowestoft and Gt Yarmouth "No Blacks, No Irish" - absolutely appalling.

A few years ago (pre the B word that we can't be trusted to discuss sensibly) it had gone full circle. There was a pub in Great Yarmouth that had a sign in the window that said "Eastern European only". And no, this isn't an apocryphal tale that someone told someone and it got passed down, we had a port call in Yarmouth and me and my crew walked past it. Even our eastern European crew couldn't believe it.

And just because I know what the forum can be like - no, this isn't a defence or excuse for the racism of the past, just an observation. Although I suppose that "Eastern European only" and "No blacks, no Irish" cover a large percentage of the same population with many others also included.

Road deaths in the 60s and 70s around 7000 per year. Less than 2000 a year for the past 10 years. Considering the amount of cars now versus then and the road miles driven this is a huge change.
We have a lot to thank seatbelts, drink driving changes and modern car safety features/build quality for.
And effective brakes

I remember seeing: No Blacks, No Irish, No Gypsies, No Dogs.

25. Forks never to be turned upside down.
26. Permission had to be given before you left the table.
27. If you didn't finish your food there was no pudding.
I can see this turning into a four Yorkshiremen thread.
We used to dream of pudding ( No27)😉

Edit say just started trawling back through the thread. Looks like the Yorkshiremen have already turned up 😁

Good old Yorkshire recipe was tripe and onions.
