Things That Gladden The Heart

NHS yet again.
No illness, no ailments involved.
Just my "ear trumpets".
I'd been getting irritated by the sound quality despite changing batteries and adjusting their tuning on my phone app.
This morning, when my wife spoke, I had trouble deciphering her - as if I'd not got them in.
The UHW is a 10 minute drive and they have a walk in Audiology help facility. Walked in at 9.45am, left at 10.30 with replacement tubes, replacement ear buds, a wax examination of both ears (clear) and 160 batteries - 2 last about 7/10 days.

Not sure of gladden or irritation..

Picked my teenager after school... asked him how it was. He said they were discussing the Israel/Iran war during a lesson. So i thought it must be the usual chat during whatever world news/economics/PSHE class they have. No. Apparently it was during their RE (Religious studies) class. I was glad that the kids were discussing world news, but intrigued as to why in RE.

Apparently they have kids of Iranian descent as well as Jewish kids in school. So the teacher wanted to have a discussion. They discussed how Iran is one of the only 2 purely theocratic society (other than the Vatican), and the discussion went all the way to the 1979 revolution.

I like that schools are discussing such things, rather than just want is the latest trend of tixtok

Up here what was RE is now RMPS (Religious, Moral, Political and Social) and they cover all things current affairs whether religious or not.

Makes sense to me as these topics are all overlapping and intertwined. I watch Pat Kahnke's YouTube Channel Culture, Faith and Politics to help me try and understand what's going on in the US Evangelical Christian church. He has his thoughts - and as a retired pastor of that church they are not comforting for him - far from it.

Looks like I'm getting Disney+ free of charge this month. Means all Star Wars stuff to watch and I can finish off Grey Anatomy!! And The Orville!
Me too - but tbh the amount I may for all my Sky subscriptions is (for us) eye-watering, and I'm not sure that having Disney+ to add to the Netflix and Prime subscriptions our children have on our TVs will stop us having a serious think about Sky.

I was supposed to get it as part of my Uber One sub. But apparently I am not eligible!!! <irritated>

Exactly. If you are an atheist then all religions are basically variations on mass delusion (don’t be offended - if you’re not an atheist then they’re not delusion; and your point of view is equally valid) but are still immensely worth studying as a social phenomenon. You cannot understand history, ethics, current events, politics, or even art and literature without them.

So young Bradley Tash gets £140 for his birthday and Xmas which was sat in our house. Sunday he asked if he could buy an electric Guitar, left handed. £100. After a bit of tow ing and fro ing. It turned up earlier today. Small amp and enough to get him going. Spent the last 20 mins listening to some Nirvana riff. 😳

That original post, I posted it last night but it didn’t come on the site. I just put it on. Apparently he is now playing ā€œsmoke on the waterā€.
The good thing is, he hasn’t been on his phone since he came home.

I ventured into the world of cooking noodles with Mediterranean vegetables and peppers. Then large spring rolls on top. Well chuffed with the first attempt.
