Things That Gladden The Heart

I was going to put this in the Andrew Thread but it is now closed. ( no surprise there). Anyway.
On April 16th, 8 of me pals and wives etc are coming over from Italy for 4 days. Tash is the mini bus driver to pick them up at the airport, take to York for the day. And spend a day at a football match doing the English thing going to the pub etc. looks like being Mansfield v Luton. So as the conversation is winding down I asked Vicenzo how he is going on.
He then mentioned the problem his company is going through and it was big. Apparently his boss of DP world has had to resign. He said the crap has hit the fan big style re this. 😳 Not just America, UK, and Norway that has had problems.
Why does that gladden the heart?

The wife has a big birthday this year and the kids have decided to rent a big house for a week so we can all spend it together.
They invited the mother in law but she has said no as they told her she would be expected to pay for herself.

She has been round ours this morning saying she is going to come anyway as it’s already paid for so it doesn’t matter if she comes and my wife has stood up to her and told her she hasn’t paid so she isn’t invited or welcome.

She left with the right hump which has cheered me up considerably and she has left the family WhatsApp group as well, which is even funnier.

We already had one without her so it don’t really matter but the kids are now messaging texts to each other saying whoever invites her back has to take everyone for a meal.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Something that makes me glad I packed up driving instruction.....
There's a learner going round the estate in a brand new Polo ...I can tell by the speed and lack of control that they're a newbie...
At a guess I'd say they're doing about 10mph and about 3500 revs.......the instructor will be doing his crust....
And they've just managed a mahoosive stall ...ah, those were the days :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Rented a big house in Appledore for my 60th. One of the best things we've done.

Better still was getting a private chef in to do the birthday meal. Bro in law provided the wine so it actually worked out cheaper or about the same as going out and the food was amazing.

Depending on where you're heading, would certainly recommend the guy we used. Devon based, but travels as required.

We are staying at a Haven in Selsey.
We are apparently playing come dine with me with drawn partners for a bit of fun.
The other 2 nights we are eating out so I will either book somewhere a bit nice or get a chef in thingy.
Apparently the kids are paying for accommodation and I’m paying for everything else.
I have threatened to not come but they said Nan is not coming so I’ll end up spending the week with her, I have packed already 🤣🤣

Mrs H’s company pension. She received a letter yesterday saying that following a review of the company pension scheme it has been found that male colleagues have been paid more than female colleagues. Her pension has risen by 15% and she has received a paltry £27 as a back payment. None the less, a pension increase.

Now the irritation; where is the 8 years of back dated pension + interest?

Small win today. On Saturday I went to buy a saucepan for the new hob but realised I needed to measure the hob diameter.
Back in today and the ones I had looked at were reduced by 25%.

As an aside it is the first time in my life that I have found out that pan size is measured at the top of the pan and not the base.

I always thought they came in litres 🤣
Every day is a school day on here.
