Things That Gladden The Heart

Golfs cancelled coz of the Storm so Ave made a banana cake with a Tash twist. Ave knicked the grandkids Finger of fudge out of there selection boxes and cut them into chunks and dropped them in.The smell is gorgeous. Me mums just rung and Ave told her am taking a picture to show her tomorrow. She has had a fit on the phone, she wants a piece. 😂
Al swop her for some Parkin she was making when I left earlier. 👍

Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Rick Wakeman has been a favourite album of mine ever since I bought it on cassette from a friend for 20p 1974. Well… not having much money back then to buy that sort of stuff it was played a lot. I still have that cassette but no cassette player. And yes…those who know, know what could have been better in some ways, but it is what it is and those of us who do…love it for what it is.

And so today when I saw the (original) vinyl album in the Sally Army centre in Chesterfield - excellent condition with all the booklet pages also in good condition and attached…and for £3…snap it up I did.

It’s a feeling that’s actually quite hard to describe holding an album you’ve known for so long but never owned or held the vinyl. And now I do…oh joys. Streaming…pah!!

Can’t wait to get it on my turntable - but for that I do indeed have to wait - until Sunday evening.

I think it is way better than 6 wives of Henry VIII

My car was serviced today by a local garage, handily located a smooth pw away from where I work. All went well but he couldn't crack how to reset the service light. In the end he handed me the keys, asked if I could have a go.

We watched the same YouTube clip but I noticed something he didn't and managed to get into the hidden service menu. He then took over, you need to put in the oil grade details, and finished it off.

I'm not normally very good at that sort of thing so this was very satisfying 😊

Never had Six Wives or listened to it at the time. RW fans often seem to put it ahead of JttCotE, but when I listened to 6Ws recently I wasn’t really stirred, never mind shaken. Not sure if that’s just my familiarity bias. Journey I rather know inside out.

Loving that this thread has taken a prog rock turn. Next up will be what’s your favourite Gentle Giant album 🤩.
Was never into GG though I have subsequently listened to a little bit of Octopus - very jazzy. Might try and listen to more tomorrow on drive up to Perth with my lad - though doubt he will go for it so might not get much of a listen.

My brake fluid change light is on and they haven't updated the service thing on mine, so I need to take it back today. Can you come and do mine?

Six Wives wipes the floor with Journey for me.
Two problems with Journey:
1. Not a good recording/production
2. Worst all those dreadful singers. Just because they're your mates doesn't mean you have to inflict them on your listeners.

Of course both true..but still…for me…and I recognise that it may just be nostalgia and familiarity on my part.

After he does yours could you send him to me, I’ve took car to garage twice because oil and service light comes on only if I park uphill and they can’t get it sorted.

The announcement that Jaysley Becks chain of command officers have been charged with offences of ignoring her complaints and brushing the sexual offences commit against her under the carpet that ultimately led to her suicide. Here’s hoping they lose their careers and have all the benefits that would go with it stripped off them. It’s taken far too long for proper justice for her family.
