To noisy and clunky for me! My mode of transport tends to be my feet with the occasional lift in a whirly bird
Wouldn’t mind a crack at driving a tank though
I used to work at the FVRDE (locally known as the tank factory) every time the courses came up at Bovington my boss put my name forward but as I was the lowest ranked in the science dept I was always outranked for a spot.
Highly annoying for and also for my boss as he had to keep requesting a squaddie to move any tank we had in the lab, those above me considered it below their station to do such a menial task despite having the training.

We just had a 15 minute monsoon here in Ipswich...but its sunny and dry again now.
I wish! We’ve had 2 x 5 minutes of spotting here in the last 7 weeks. Temps aren’t too bad in the last week, around 30*, but the humidity is up around 85*. Roll on the end of Sept…

I renewed my energy agreement last month at a fixed rate for 12 months. After seeing the news of yet more increases, I went back on to British Gas and saw that they had created another new tariff cheaper than both my current and old one. No charge for changing so swapped over.

It has been like what it must be like living in Spain where I live (South Somerset /Dorset ) no rain from something like early to mid May until today except for a few minutes of nothing significant.

I live 16 miles from Durdle Door and have done since I moved to Dorset in 1983. I’ve never been there. Maybe one day when I’ve retired.View attachment 59201Kids went back to their mums last night after spending the half term with us. So took Mrs M for an early morning drive down to Durdle door, we had breakfast and coffee on the beach enjoying the Jurassic coast line. Then had a lovely swim out in the sea, munched an ice cream and came home for a nice relaxing afternoon.
Sometimes the scenery in this country just hits all the right spots

You can park at Lulworth Cove take that in then walk along the cliff top path to Durdle Door or vice versa.
Watching the flying boats/water tankers doing bump and go, refilling their tanks. We’re looking down on them as they come out of the harbour. Spectacular watch but there’s a sad side to it too. There’s a nasty fire about 20kms inland.

Browsing our local Oxfam I came across a 1879 copy of the 1862 book - Illustrated Guide to Sheffield. I bought it as I find Sheffield a fascinating city.
Getting it home and flicking through it I spotted on the frontispiece the embossed stamp of a previous owner - I guessed quite possibly the original owner, one Charles Stokes, Dentist, 145 Cemetery Road, Sheffield.
Out of interest, and as it seemed possible that only a relatively well-off person would have such a book and such a stamp, I did a little search on-line. And I what I found was, to me at least, quite remarkable...and for me quite a little find.
I'll leave it at that...for anyone interested in Sheffield and/or football to have a look into Mr Stokes and make their own discovery.
I'll add...the book has 165 pages of ads at the back - ads for many, if not most, of the med-large manufacturers in the city at the time - and that in itself is fascinating.
