Theoretical Physics....?

I wonder how much Ryanair would charge you for a packet of Walker's crisps on a flight to the Andromeda Galaxy???
Air Andromeda will get you there through a wormhole (which bends back time and space) at the equivalent to a very large warp speed in only minutes. So you won't have time to eat a whole packet.

As someone who gets travel sick I really like the idea of instant travel. A choppy 90 minute catamaran trip to France 15 years ago still haunts me horribly so the idea that I could get anywhere within a bag of crisps sounds fantastic. Get on with it physics people ?

I don't get travel sick but I find flying and ferries mind numbingly boring. Something that covers great distances very quickly... yes please.

Should this be confirmed it could lead to as yet undreamed of technologies for the future.
Einstein's theory of gravity (General Relativity) has made predictions which have now been confirmed such as time ticking by differently depending on where you are and what speed you are going.
It also predicts worm holes which could get us where we want in the Universe should we know the actual shape of the Cosmos.
Holidays on the Andromeda Galaxy could be available soon.
I thought worm holes sucked you in and squirted you out somewhere else randomly on the universe. Dont think i would want to try it as you could come out somewhere like Blyth or even Wales ?

Then you'll enjoy this "...while developing special relativity, Albert Einstein was concerned with the Lorentz transformation which left Maxwell's equations invariant, but was apparently uninterested in the Michelson–Morley experiment on Earth's drift through a luminiferous aether. " But when he went backwards (theoretically) when experimenting with photoelectrics (Experimental physics) to the models to explain the theory of why what happened, happened!!
My understanding, from a well informed source, is that he was not so much 'uninterested' as 'unaware'. It was more the simplicity of the Lorentz and Maxweell aspects that 'drove' him.

Even on a budget you will reliably be able to visit Proxima-Centauri. Nearest star to Earth, and its 3rd rock will be no worse than Lloret de Mar. It will no doubt have a golf course.
Aldabaran in Taurus will have planets good for sightseeing.
A bit more pricey will be Betelgeuse where you can top up your tan.
When the Andromeda Galaxy collides with the Milky Way there will be even more exciting destinations.

Competing with wormhole travel will be teleportation to help bring prices down.
In the transporter room your body will be broken down into atoms and then probability waves. It will take longer to reach Proxima-Centauri but there will be virtual reality to help pass the time.
Only snag I can see is that you could arrive with a mixture of other peoples body parts.

Douglas Adams quote from the Hitchhikers Guide.
“I teleported home last night with Ron and Sid and Meg
Ron stole Meggy's heart away and I got Sidney's leg.”

My main concern is always for my divers safety.

Been watching a fair few youtube clips with Brian Greene, the theoretical physicist and string theorist. Lots of crazy and fascinating theories. I like the one that there is not really such thing as a coincidence, as every possible eventuality actually occurs. One of those in our universe, and all the others in different universes. If this is true, then every single one of us are the worlds Number 1 golfer somewhere out there. Mind you, every single one of us are also Trump like somewhere else.

Yes, well- I've seen several programmes with theoretical physicists reckoning all sorts of theories , many are way out stuff...
I think we have got to the stage where there have been quite a number of these guys graduating as such , and I am starting to suspect that there is a sense of
"What can I come up with that is outrageous enough to get me noticed over and above the others"
Bit like fashion and modern art

I'm sure a lot will end up being garbage, but interesting where the mathematics takes them.

I like the proven facts, such as time is not constant, and will travel differently relative to motion. I started running a few years ago. So, hopefully that I am moving a lot more now, my life will pass by more slowly :) . Sadly, I'm nowhere near the speed of light, so I doubt I'm going to notice it too much.

Lol- but only if you run backwards?
Seriously, it is fascinating. The thought that if something travels at the speed of light then time, for it, does not pass

So, photons can travel almost the whole universe, and they have no past or future as far as they are concerned.
And the next conclusion is.......?

Why Does E=MC2 by Brian Cox is worth a read on this subject.

Related to that

I listen to the Infinite Monkey Cage podcast, and recently they talked about how the universe keeps expanding faster and faster, and the other galaxies will be moving so fast away that their light will never reach us, making it look like we are alone.
Astronomers will then look out and see nothing, thinking we will be alone in the universe. Of course, they could look at what current astronomers wrote down, but to them it will look even sillier than we look down at those old societies believing in multiple goods.

But all this is a few years away, and shortly after that the universe will contract again until we all burn to crisps. At least that is what I got out of it.
