The year of the Yang

Disappointed that Tiger lost however I thought yang thoroughly deserved the victory. He played well, final group in a major, playing with Tiger who already has a two shot lead.... awesome.

I totally agree with your sentiment about the last hole, what a second shot! and nice to see him make the putt to close the match without argument.

Didn't see it live, but I'm sure Tiger had two putts to keep 2nd place to himself.

Yup, I'd have thought that most players would have managed a second or two to congratulate a champion - I'm sure others have done it to him in the past.

Easy for me to speak though, I'm used to losing. It must have been emotional for Tiger to play so poorly having been so immaculate for the three previous days.

Shame none of the GB&I crew could quite get into contention. But a good few bob has been earned by non USA players today. Lee and Rory both trousered $435,000 - not bad compensation for not quite getting themselves in the mix. And I believe 70 was the low score of the day, so they both equalled Yang there as well

Also nice to see Ernie winning a few bob, and young Kaymer as well.

Shame the Ryder cup isn't this October, what with the current form of the two teams. :)

I am glad Yang won it, especially after Woods was walking to the next tee when Yang still had to hole out on I think the 15th or 16th hole.

It wasnt just them two holes, he was doing it from the start.

A little bit of rain or wind and "The worlds greatest ever" Tiger falls apart like he did in the open.

I managed to miss all but the last hole, just caught Yang's tee shot. truly great second (vindicates all our 'go for it' tactics). I thought TW had hit his second heavy, don't know what distance he had.

At other times and in other circumstances, I've seen others in that position putt out leaving the hole free for the certain winner. Yang was never going to do worse than 2 putt from there, but surely TW could have worked out that if he putted out for his 4, then if the pressure had got to Yang there was just the possibility of a playoff.

So much for the boring procession that Tiger was goint to produce in his unstopable run to cross the victory line.

That must have been one of the best evenings golf viewing for quite a while. Well done to Yang for playing his own game when all around were losing theirs.

It's a shame Harrington had his woopsies with the water again, but he did put up a good defence of his title. Nice to see Ernie back in he mix for a while. And Westwood and Mcilroy were around as well. If only these guys could have holed a few putts it might have been so different.

There is no doubt it was a tough course, but it didn't seem to be too tricked up for the event. Drive it in the fairway and you were in with a chance, put it in the rough and you were punished. That's the way it should be.

It's a shame we've got to wait 8 months to the next Big one.

Agree with that.

What a cracking finish from the Asian. He deserved it after that hybrid 3Iron into the green, Great Shot!

And Well Done Yang Well Played.

My congrats go to McIlroy who came back well considering he didnt start well again on the first. He's surely the one to watch for the future. This and the Open, is the Tiger losing his domination on the game, is he still the world number one?

When coming second is a terrible result you know you're still world number one.

Tiger just went 1st 1st 2nd in has last 3 events - not that bad really is it?

It was a good nights viewing and Yang is a worthy champion. Not sure Tiger behaved that badly. However I was pleasantly surprised by McIlroy. I've been on here and said great golfer etc but won't be good enough to win a major for a while. Whilst I'm still not 100% convinced I was very impressed by his performance.

Westwood once again showed great patience after a number of double bogies throughout the week particularly on par 3's and still managed to remain in contention and surely his chance will come.

No he didn’t behave badly, he just done what Tiger always does when he’s not wining.

What walking off the green to the next tee on every hole he has putted out first isn't poor etiquette? If anyone did that whilst playing with me or our group they would find themselves pulled on it.

By the time he had done that though it was pretty much a matchplay situation. Ive seen plenty of professional players walking to the next tee before the other player had holed out.
I dont think it is disrespect, its frustration sometimes maybe even a little twinge on the mental game of the opponent. If that bothers you then you are falling into the trap intended.
Mr yang played really well though and cannot be faulted for his persistence, it won through in the end. The final shot to the 18th green was just fantastic.

lol a trap... Its poor sportsmanship & etiquette and one of the many reasons why Tiger might have the numbers but will never be the greatest.

As mentioned before, anyone doing that at club level would find themselves a one ball very soon after.

he's not the only pro I've seen do that though, David Howell's is another.
Wentworth last year, easily the best shot into the green, walked up tapped in and was off to the 3rd before the others were on the green. Can't have done him any good as he spent the next 5 minutes pacing the 3rd tee.

I absolutely agree Brendy. Just couldn't put it as eloquently as you.
