Back when the virus was first coming to the fore the South Africans went to the extreme measure of having an alcohol prohibition and made all the wine producers throw away their stocks.

I went out to get some of my usual wine today and the shelves were absolutely empty of most South African wines and as a result nearly all the Australian similar ones were out of stock.
