The Oops Thread

Good blunder by the Royal Mail but I get sick of seeing articles stating that an admin mistake, has caused “massive offence” or created “uproar”

There seems to be a huge attempt in mainstream and social media to create massive mountains out of molehills.

Gets on my boobs

Whilst I won’t say the word ‘exclusively’, by and large the offence is taken and spouted off about by non veterans.

Honestly I’d imagine the vast majority of veterans (not that there are many left) would chuckle under their breath or be fairly non plussed about it.

The Royal Mail deserve a good ribbing for it. The team responsible deserve to be the butt of some internal jokes for a while.

However trying to persecute people who we’re participating in a project to commemorate the events is bloody wrong and nasty.

Can you imagine being publicly hung drawn and quartered and made out to be uncaring about veterans of the landings? Must be a horrible thing to endure just for a simple and innocent lack of research.

Really, if I had made that Royal Mail error I would be expecting either the sack or a lost contract and refusal to pay.

Incompetence...I would have thought that would have been bleeding obvious.
Or just a simple mistake...like clicking on the wrong picture to upload - easily done when you're looking at hundreds.
And anyway, the error has been made by many people because it got missed at every check...
So sack the whole damn lot of them then...?
Yes it's an unfortunate error but in the great scheme of things.....?
Mistakes are made every day in all walks of life. Heaven forbid, you may even have made a few yourself....

Stone Him.!!!!!

Incompetence is such a bad word to have in your vocabulary.

Believe it or not we actually learn from our mistakes and mistakes are a fact of life for most.

I can’t imagine the team responsible for this boo boo ever making the same mistake again And that can only be a good thing right?

Or should we just sack a department during the Christmas period because of of nothing more than a slight boo boo.

Would you sack a poppy seller and publicly berate then if they accidentally held up an incorrect picture whilst rattling a tin?

Different scenario but same circumstances.

Can’t be arsed with holier than thou types to be honest.

For the record I’m an ex veteran and have been involved in combat and conflict.

Whilst I thankfully was not involved in WW2, i I’m certain the lads I served with would, without exception find this an amusing story. As would I imagine most WW2 veterans would do similarly.

Let’s be frank. They went through much worse in life than this trivial and innocent cock up.

Its months before the stamps go on sale, I can understand a big hoo har if the mistake had been spotted after release.

Hopefully its been spotted before the printing has started, otherwise its an expensive mistake

But we are humans, ( well some of us are) and its how we learn stuff

Not me,I just don’t admit I’m wrong 😉

Jeez nae wonder the UK is in such a state with all these snowflakes around.;)

BTW my Dad actually landed on the beaches in the second wave that crossed into Germany, he despised the Americans forces more than the Germans so if he was still alive he would probably have been mortified.
