The nicest swing,.... who has it.

Depends what you are looking for really.

If you are talking about technical perfection then Scotty is about as good as it gets.

If you want a swing that us amateurs can learn from then I would pick Els for his rhythm, I think the biggest mistake club golfers make is trying to swing too hard.

Ernie Els still has the best swing by far IMO, followed by Luke and then Shrek. Rory and Kaymer's also in the top 10.

Personally, I think that Raphael Jacquelin has the best looking swing in golf! If only his short game were better...

Has to be Freddie Couples... he just oozes class and elegance in his swing. Monty had a swing I used to like to watch, very languid and effortless.

For sheer power it has to be Alvaro Quiros for me.

Love watching Tom Watson's swing.

However I wish commentators wouldn't keep saying it hasn't changed in 30 years. Tom has said himself that he changed his swing in about 1993 to remove the reverse C and maintain his spine angle better.

Otherwise with the consensus on Luke and Louis.

If we're looking a little further back, then I have to give a mention to Woosie's swing.

Seve thought it was the best in the world, and he knew a thing or two about golf swings.

Yeah Woosie had a beautiful, simple swing. Hardly anything moved, just back and through. Very little to go wrong with it.

Can't agree with the Luke love. He's absolutely the best from 100yds in, pitching, chipping, sand and putting, but his full swing ?? Nice tempo (but prefer ernie), but not sure about the rest. Ball striking stats bear it out - 140th in GIR and 137th in 'ball striking' on 2012 pga stats. Can't love something that doesn't work !

South Africans (Ernie, Louis and Charles) and Mahan from the Yanks for me.

Nearly forgot - saw a few Aussie tournaments on espn in the winter. John Sendon has a fantastic swing.

Interesting to note that Aussies, Europeans and South Africans get a lot more votes than Americans in this thread.

Is it fair to say that the American swings are ugly but effective?

Today's best for me are Els, Garcia and Schwartzel. Ouisthazen too.

Over the mordern era I would say Seve, Woosnam, Elkington, Watson and possibly Couples although all that dropping on this inside on the way down doesn't sit that well with me!

Best swing ever is easy though - Sam Snead. Absolutely beautiful timing and form.
