A friend of mine has asked if he can come join me at the range some time to try Golf, like a good friend I said "Sure why not", he then added "I will need to use your clubs because I don't have any" so here's my dilemma. I only have regular flex shafts in all my clubs but he is built like bloody Lou Ferrigno and I'm now scared that he will try to hit a ball so hard he will break my bats.... any advice guys because I don't want to just cancel on him because the more friends I have playing Golf the better..... right?

I'd say don't worry mate. It's right hard to snap a shaft, or even bend one. Just tell him to go easy and show him that you don't need to murder it to get results. A clean strike at 50% effort goes further and straighter than a duffed one at 100&

I wouldn't worry, I know some big guys and they swing like a garden gate with no timing nor 'weight' into the back of the ball.
Teach him how to get the ball away and ingrain the accuracy first then power mentality.

I had a similar situation with my brother in law. Lent him my old driver as I was wary of giving him my cobra, and sure enough on his first swing he spanked the back of the driver head into a metal post behind him, left a nice big dent in the driver just below the shaft. After that I sorted him out an old set of clubs from another family member.

I'd say if he's serious about taking the game up recommend he buys himself a cheap set or even cheaper second hand set just until he learns the basics, the last thing you want is him damaging your babies!
