Despite just embarking on my new grip and swing speed (what seems like day and night) am playing this course on Friday - anybody played it?

GBC

I used to live about a mile or so from it and have played it many times though not for several years.

Its a decent enough course, if a bit short, always used to be in reasonable (if not top) condition (greens not always the best). Nice setting and clubhouse and the food always used to be good too. Not sure if its still the case but it used to be very busy and would regularly be 5hr plus rounds, especially at weekends and they take a lot of societies.

Thanks tee off at 11 so looks like after a round and changing my shoes will be having dinner there!

From reading Fundy's posting it could well be bed and breakfast!

we, society from work, are playing it later in the month.

last (and only) time I was there was for minty's charity match a couple of years ago.

pretty ordinary if I remember rightly - certainly not up to its name. gets a bit 'lost' out the back, the holes have a feel of not quite belonging.

Played it once last year, nice drive up to a big stately home club house, pro shop was friendly and helpful they let us tee off an hour before our booked time.

Front 9 is very open and apart from the 1st, 2-8 are in a field across the road. But not much bother.

Back 9 is a bit more testing with a couple of tree lined holes holes and elevated tees.
15th (I think) is a nice looking par 3 and 18th is another par 3 with a big carry over water off the back tees.
