Isn't it a shame that an event that can only happen once in a generation or so can't go ahead because of officials obsessed with Health and safety?
In the coldest winter for 30 odd years the Grand Match Committee had to cancel the planned bonspiel because of another example of the nanny state taking our personal responsibility for our own safety away from us.
Hopefully The People will stick it to The Man and take heed of Nike's slogan to "Just Do It" anyway!

We had this discussion in the pub on Saturday and we all agreed that there is no way on earth we would have set foot on it even if it is frozen .....only takes a couple of fat buggers to make the strain too much! ;)

I don't think the ice was the issue. The policeman interviewed on the telly the other night said that they needed more notice so that they could plan for the event (whatever that means).

I heard the police weren't prepared to allow their men to supervise the event due to the adverse weather conditions and as a result, the whole event wasn't able to be insured.

Basically they didn't want to get a bill when somebody slipped over and broke their neck x
