Because it's music - and there is never "bad music " just people have different tastes.

I have seen Coldplay a number of times in concert and they are amazing live - they have also put on prob the best headline at Glastonbury ever as well. They sell out globally within minutes - so are appealing to a lot of people's taste. You don't become as successful as they are by being not good

Ed Sheeran was excellent again - another talented songwriter and singer.

But it's ok to slag off Little Mix as trash, currently the biggest Girl Band in the UK who have broken all sorts of records for a British all girl band globally!
Clean, no scandal attached and you comment on their look!

the last time I went to Glastonbury, the headliners were Neil Young, Springsteen and Blur. All three were brilliant. Coldplay couldn't lace the boots of any of them.

For example - David Bowie has just won Best Male Artist - yet passed away 13 months ago , yep his best Album topped charts after his sad passing away.

"Unfortunately David couldn't be here tonight to collect his award but he did record this mes.........oh hold on"!!!

Probably a worthy recipient - his last album was critically acclaimed.

Didn't watch it mate, I like their first 2 albums but anything after is a bit too "pop" for me. In fairness, they have come across well when I've seen them live on tv.
Watched the match then watched the performance on web, out of his range!

Ha ha. Definitely agree with the Jagger one as well. How has he got away with it for so long? Roger Daltrey has now reached this stage. He could sing but not any more.

These singers largely prove that its better to be thought an idiot than open your mouth and prove it !
A few good songs but mostly sycophantic garbage.

Yet given a massive global opportunity at the Super Bowl 2016 they somehow needed some bird on stage to help them out. Very bad move IMO. They only had to fill 15 minutes. Lady Ga Ga showed them how it's done.

Music is subjective and yet we have tried to make it competitive since the first charts were released. An album being critically acclaimed basically means the critic liked it. It doesn't mean his opinion is better or worse than anyone else's. It's subjective.
Personally I couldn't give two hoots for award ceremonies. Showbiz and the music industry have always been self centred and these are just self congratulatory indulgences. I do get that they are a good advert for the industry but at this time of year there are at least a couple a week.
And I really don't care what Meryl Streep et al think about anything! Quite why they think that because they can act to the degree that they get paid millions per movie it gives them some right to inflict their political views on the rest of us is beyond me. It's a celebration. Not a party political broadcast. I don't think many of them have yet realised that they are probably responsible for getting Trump elected. Let's face it, if you are long term unemployed in rust belt USA and some multi millionaire luvvie who has never got her hands dirty tells you via video link direct from Hollywood who to vote for, you are very probably going to do the opposite.

A bit like Springsteen, that fella has made a living out of singing mediocre rock songs badly.

I thought I was the only one with this view. Is any song in tune? Rock royalty though apparently, sacrilege to make this comment.

Technically the most proficient;probably not. Greatest songwriter; that's probably another no. But music isn't necessarily about technical ability or the quality of the songwriting. It's about a feeling it brings, the mood it creates, and as far as that is concerned, he really is The Boss. I'm not the greatest fan of his studio albums, but I'll take any opportunity to see him live; he puts body & soul into it, the atmosphere is second to none and the last time I saw him he started early enough that he could get a three and a half hour set in before they pulled the plug on him.
