I wonder if anyone in the Industry ever takes these seriously anymore

For example - David Bowie has just won Best Male Artist - yet passed away 13 months ago , yep his best Album topped charts after his sad passing away.

Every year Annie Lennox appears to be nominated in the best British Female yet prob hasn't released a record in a decade.

So are they now just an excuse for pop people to get drunk make idiots of themselves and talk about nonsense in an acceptance speech
 
I'm surprised you don't see it as just some good harmless fun that no one is forced to watch.
Imagine if it was on the BBC,they'd really put on a show 👍🏻

And you begrudge Bowie because? I thought it was music over the last year (up to a set cut off point) and so surely his last album would count and he'd be eligible for best male. It's always been a glorified back slapping exercise for the industry to party hard and hand out some awards.

It's intriguing- I'm more confused with these statements that are flashing up slagging whoever it is singing ?!
 
I got sent out of the room by my kids for my comments about Little Mix. Apparently I know nothing. I feel calmer for leaving. Honestly, turn over. It will just make you annoyed.

I take it they are scrolling tweets. What could possibly go wrong there?

Some decent songs in that list yet that pop trash wins - and what the heck do those girls look like - trailer trash , hope they aren't supposed to be girls for young girls to look up too !

Phillip behave, you are beginning to sound like your dad moaning when you played your status Quo records.
However, that bird that had her dress made from all them rags, am sure I saw my ball cleaning rag that I lost a couple of weeks ago on it.
 
Will watch any decent performances I hear of at a later date online. Couldn't watch it as a tv event I don't think. I do recall catching Royal Blood doing Figure it Out by chance a few years ago, that was pretty good knock your socks off rock which surprised me, rock seems a rare thing on the Brits I think, sappy r&b which seems to be the young persons thing these days ain't my thing.
 
Just looked up the nominees, barely know any of them. I'd say I'm getting old, but I watched a brilliant young British blues artist a few weeks ago, nowhere to be seen in that list. How do they choose these people?

Because it's music - and there is never "bad music " just people have different tastes.

I have seen Coldplay a number of times in concert and they are amazing live - they have also put on prob the best headline at Glastonbury ever as well. They sell out globally within minutes - so are appealing to a lot of people's taste. You don't become as successful as they are by being not good


Ed Sheeran was excellent again - another talented songwriter and singer.
