OK, im going to spill. After the recent threads about the r11 (issue 1) being a problem club to others (see thread inherited axtecs slice and golfer or club), i thought id pop to the range tonight to kill this cabin fever and while im at it try the new r11s....

Now it was no secret i didnt like the original r11 no matter how much i wanted to love it, when it was straight it was long, but when it was wild.....jesus... i could look for balls in different postcodes, now in hindsight maybe it wasnt the club as i was working through some swing issues at the time, but there we go, i tried, i didnt like so i went back to my old driver....the burner 09. so with the new one in the shop with what is meant to be a made for shaft, i thought id try the new 460 version with the new rip shaft.

well if it helps i hated the r11s too. no matter what swing i put on it is just felt nasty, the new bigger 460cc head in white looks more like 500cc... now i know this is only a colour thing but it seriously looks huge behind the ball, on the first address i looked at it and wondered if i actually had enough strength to move the beast. Well 5 swings in and it was bag against the bag and i can honestly say i will not be picking that up again. I did try a few others, but im staying shoosh.

Its a shame as im a big tm woods fan, but that had just put me off the future r11 models.

In a word, gutted!:mmm:

i lobved the white head on the first r11, so i doubt its the colour, but the new s model has a completely different shaped head, not like the original 440 version, and no where near the shape of the burner/superfast head. stick it behind a ball homer..... its not nice.

I didnt try the rbz as im trying to get a lower flight, and ive been nudged in the direction away from the rbz as this seems designed to get the ball more up in the air.

The i20 was night and day better than the r11s, and the shorter shaft by around 1.5" seemed alot nicer to control. the more i hit it the more it grew on me, rather like a beauty and the beast, a beast to look at, but a beauty to hit,.

How dare u...........;)

Moogie....you read my mind :D

The missus has just asked what I want for my birthday....the more I hear about the i20, the more I want it....

OS, how did it compare against the R11/R11s in terms of length? I'm obviously more concerned about the dispersion, just wondered how the shorter shaft impacted on distance....

i reckon both the g20 and i20 were better on dispersion than the r11/r11s. i didnt like the r11s one bit if im honest. for me the 120 has a bit of a weird shape and the dull finish is marmite, your love it or hate it. taking away its look, it performs really well. distance wise i couldnt say, simply because it was around 5.30, and as the light was going it was hard to pick the balls off the sky line, and the lights of the range were not really having much effect.

I tried the g20 last week, 3 balls, 3 different chopper swings, all within 5 yards of each other. what was even better was my normal spec is around 9.5* stiff, yet the g20 was a 10.5* reg and it held up well. id suggest no-one rights off the g20 without trying it, i think its more pleasing on the eye but to call between the two couldnt be done without trackman stats.

suppose its horses for courses, thhe RBZ driver shaft does say high launch but i found that at the 12 degree setting. at the 10.5 it was a lower flight and at 9 even lower. forgot to say i was using a tm r7 cgb max 12 degree. the head is more rounded and sits nice for my eye. and the rbz for me is a big improvement

Sounds like yet more positive feedback to add to the pile! :)

It's probably quite obvious that I've already fallen in love with the i20 looks wise but also love the look and feel of the G20 - not hit any balls with the G20 but have had more than a few waggles with it in the Pro shop. The shorter shaft is what's appealing to me. Definately need to try them myself!!
