Sorry about the self gratifying post that is about to follow but, I have just had some BRILLIANT news!

After a wait of 5 and a half months, or exactly 161 days, 2 Medical Entrance exams, 2 interviews, 2 rejections (from Oxford and Edinburgh) and a lot of traveling back and forth over the Forth, I have finally received my 1st offer to study Medicine at University!! :D :D

But, what makes it even better is where it is…

ST ANDREWS!!!

Honestly, words cannot describe how good I feel! This year there was a 2.5% acceptance rate. And, on top of that I somehow have managed to defy the myth that English students can't get into Scottish unis, (although I never believed it in the first place!).

Here's to a lot of hard work and serious golfing!!

Just got to get 3 A's now…!!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Jammy barsteward!

Very envious but congrats! Here's to getting out on the Old Course every weekend then, eh? :D

hindlemarsh, a fantastic achievement many congratulations.

By the way .........when can I start asking you about this troublesome rash I can't seem to shift :o :o :D :D ;) ;)

Stay in touch when you get there, sure you will have no problem finding golfing buddies.

Nice one.

I've been really interested in the BBC documentary series following some junior doctors through their early years.

When I was in my early 20s I was barely capable of looking after myself never mind making decisions on other people's lives!!

Great news, well done indeed, however in Scotland its rumoured that you don't get into St Andrews University unless your English!

fantastic news.

how many courses have they got now? is it one for each day of the week. :D :D

Dont forget your studies,  I meant golf technique. :D :D

Good luck!

Thanks for all the kind messages! But, off to work now…!

Well, after a round with RGDave first!
:) :D :D :D

Well done. Excellent news.

Don't know where you heard about the English thing though, especially at St Andrews, as Craw says. Thought it was compulsory up there.

Enjoy the golf.

All you need to become a doctor is take the advice of the one from Blackadder.

"I've had time to consider your situation and I can thoroughly recommend a dose of leeches".

Medicine ?????

I thought St Andrews was the university of pointless courses. :D

Have to agree with the others, The students union used have way more English students when i visited there

Well done, the fact 60% of medical students are female is a happy coincidence. Do they still all move to Manchester for their clinical training?

Nice one. Good to see someone studying a worthwhile degree. Talking of medicine - is St Andrew the patron saint of liver salts?

Well done young man. Wish my daughter would apply to St Andrews, but looks like i will have to check out the courses in Durham
. ;)
