You do need to have a basic understanding of the Highway Code to drive a car but no need to know ball flight laws to drive a golf ball

I can drive my car... have been doing so for 20yrs.... doesn't mean that I (or especially learners) shouldn't know the highway code.

I agree about the highway code but unless the ball flight laws are under the jurisdiction of local magistrates, I can't quite see how that is a good analogy!

I know some people like to understand golf at a mechanical level but I am not one of them. Each to their own though, one man's meat is another man's poison and all that.

The analogy suggests that learner golfers should have a knowledge of push fades and pulldraws and such.

As a learner golfer I'd be more concerned with club hitting ball in any shape or form

You can't put any object into flight within 40 miles of London at the moment without specific approval of your planned flightpath. Have you got all of your drives planned and submitted to the FAA ?
