Is there a hole on your course that made or makes you realize that your not as long as you think....

For me on our course i have 2....Our 13th par 3 is 207mtrs off the back tees and our medal tees are usually around the 200mtr mark...
When i first joined our club i was trying to hammer a 5 wood onto that green and ok 3 or 4 times out of 10 swing i might find the green but more often than not i missed it left and right or short...

Now i use a 3 wood from that distance off a tee and 9 times out of 10 i have carried that distance......
I always thought that i hit a 3 wood as far as some people drive the ball but the reality is that off a tee in normal conditions with a smooth swing i carry my 3 wood 200mtrs about 220 yards....

Ok on a hard fairway ill get maybe 15 or 20 yards of roll which bumps up the total distance to 235 or 240 yards but it does make you think.

Our 7th par4 is 285yds to the front edge and it's ALL CARRY...... just can't make myself take it on

Bet you come away with regular pars and the odd birdie though all the same...... ;)

I can go after my 3 wood and yes in summer ill get a bit more out of it and probably get away with a 5 wood off that par 3 but i dont think that 220 -230 yards from a 3 wood is all that bad.

Back at South Winch the 4th is a long par 4 up the hill. After the downhill par 5 3rd your confidence is high. There are some bunkers out to catch errant drives but they look from the tee to be too close to bother anyone with a big stick. Due to it being uphill I constantly see drives landing in the bunkers on the full, the fairway is VERY tight at that point too and only a good drawn tee shot over the bunkers on the right will hold the fairway.

A tee shot left short will leave a 200 yard + approach. Probably one of the most testing par 4s on the course bar the 9th which makes you think you are longer off the tee than you thought, frequently I take a shorter tee club than I do for the 2nd shot on that hole!

Our 12th is a big dg leg. You can hit a fade over the line of trees that run the right side of the fairway or you can take on a tree by the 11th green. Clear that and carry the trees on the edge of the fairway and it leave nothing more than a 7 or 8 iron. Play safe and go straight to the corner of the dog leg and its 200 yards. I usually go for it whenever I'm swinging OK and only play straight if the driver is way off

We have a par 4 on one of the nine's that's 448yds on the card but feels like it plays much longer, making you feel like you can't hit far. I'm usually a good drive and then a good 5 wood but fail on either of those and it's short and in the sheite. A burn running across the fairway at 390 yards makes you think twice about going for it as well - although I have accepted that this is just in my head :D

14th at our place. dog leg par 5. i never go over the corner with my 2nd but decided to try it in practice one day. hit my hybrid clean as a whistle and thought yeah that will be right up there. when i got up it was 20yards short of the green and had cleared the fence by no more than 5 yards. lesson learnt!

God I hate that hole, heart-attack hill as its known.

Absolutely terrible golf hole and by far and away the worst hole on the course.

its a straight forward enough hole. just hit your second to the corner then 110yards in. i dont mind it but hate the walk up. ill often play 13 then nip over and do 8 and 9 again instead of going up the hill.

messed up my last comp on this hole by hitting my 2nd ob! runied my day. was going ok too.
