I played the Saturday morning sweep at Royal Musselburgh and I felt real good but I wondered after a few holes if it was not my day. Good drive at the first but the wind just drifted the ball into the bunker, tried to clean it out to the green but took too much sand, played a solid PW onto the green and 3 putted from 25 feet although it was downhill and much faster than I thought. Bad six, but anyway I was still feeling good and I just missed my birdie at the next to then, at the following hole, lose a ball in the leave smothered semi rough, another 6. Onwards and upwards, had to take a penalty shot at the 7th after trying a ridiculous shot through the trees……….out in 44. Still feeling good though. Nice tee shot at the 10th, nice second just missing the B putt. Same at the next hole, great second shot over the flag, just missed the B putt. Same thing at the next. All good solid irons into the greens. The 420 yard 13th I pulled my drive into the rough, hit a low running 5 wood just to the front edge and got my parr. I felt good going to the short 14th, it was down wind, the tee was at the front about 130 and I creamed my PW and it landed, what looked from the tee about 5 or 6 feet to the right of the pin. The ball jumped to the left, it did have a bit of draw, and ended 2 inches from the hole. When we had a look the ball had spun 90 degrees to the left and the pitch mark, ball and hole were perfectly in line. That was close and I finished the back 9 in 36, one over parr.

80 not too bad, but my irons in the back 9 were the best I’ve ever hit em. Every shot was sweet.

I too struck the ball really well this weekend. Must be something in the air.

Why would you not want a hole in one? It is every golfers dream, surely?

I had a hole in one around 15 years ago! Worst shot ever to get a hole in one!
Playing a really short Par 3 over water, SW in hand i caught the middle of the ball!
It took off around 5 foot from the ground like a missile!
It landed right at the base of the pin and the cup and wedged right in!
My mate i was playing with was, and still is, raging!!!
BUT IT COUNTS!!!! :grin
Of of my other friends got a hole in one on Saturday too - cost him a fortune! :p

TOMO21 that seems a great round in the conditions, and to feel good about it afterwards is what its all about.

Didn't play yesterday as planned but went to the range almost under pennance for not testing myself in the wind and rain. Should have played as I had the ball on a string. 4 irons into the wind were low and true with draw. Drives were sailing into the distance and at one point I even had an audience of three or four (waiting for bays) admiring my shots. I simply could not hit a bad shot. Some days you are on and you can bet next time I stand on the 1st I'll be back to the quivering octopus swing I seem to be perfecting in competitive rounds

I played my first 18 holes in a month after just playing the front 9 shot a 75 +5 played the front in par dreaded 3 putt on hole 9,then back 9 played solid but 2 3 putts and a lost ball for a 75,its the best i hit the ball in ages putting the ball in the right spots off the tee for a change was dissapointed with 75 felt like i played 'pro' golf most of the time, just nice to have some sort of control on the ball
