Has anyone seen this months TG?
They have their annual Gear Guide in it. I've always managed to find some error or other in it every year but this years - well Nike won't be too impressed.

There are ads all over the magazine for the new Victory Red Irons. But in the irons section of the gear guide the only Nike irons listed are Slingshots!! Ooops!!!

I know that there are going to be errors in any listing like this but missing out a major manufacturers major clubs is a bit more than a typo!!

Also spotted the intro page to the waterproofs section shows the new Callaway Gore-tex jacket - but no listing for Callaway in the section. Also no mention of the R9!

Like I said - Bunch of Amateurs................

Bit harsh as I'm sure they were rushing to a deadline like most magazines do. Any company can make a mistake and I'm sure if I looked hard enough at Golf Monthly this month I will find an error or two!

Every month I buy TG and say that's the last time and every month I keep buying it!

It aint a good read but it does do some fun features. The gear reviews are utter tosh and TM biased.

Golf World its sister mag is a brilliant mag, don't understand how one can be so good and the ther so bad!

I'm subscribed to TG, and I have to agree that it can be a bit wishy-washy at times. My main reason for opting for the subscription was the free gifts offered at the time (free TM beanie and TM Balls) but now I've started to regret it...

Surely if Today's Golfer and the sister publication Golf Word were to collaborate, then the sales would rocket, and the content would be much improved.

Golf World is a decent read. I don't think there can be any excuse for missing a whole product line like the Nike irons. It isn't as though they've only be launced to the trade in the last few weeks. Same with the R9 which is obviously the TM flagship big dog for 2009. How much publicity has it had being adjustable etc.

I know there will be errors and I'm sure in the forthcoming GM equipment guide not everything will be perfect. It just seems that even in the publication of TG there doesn't seem tobe any care taken or love shown. Compare that to Golf World which has better articles is well written, quite a weighty tome etc. Still not a patch on GM though and I think this months edition is spot on.

Agreed, even by TG standards there are some howlers in this month's issue. What is more, the 'Gear Guide' is nothing more than a cheap list of clubs released this year, no pictures, no comment, no opinions, nothing.

Here is hoping that the GM supplement is up to the standard of last year's as quite enjoy drooling over the pics of the new kit that I either cannot afford or cannot use.

No TaylorMade balls & No Yes Putters in the list & well, lots of ommisions of current equipment.

To be quite frank, found the whole series of pages a complete waste of ink & paper. About the only interesting subject in the mag was on North Berwick & even then I have issues with that article too. Oh & Thorpness is a course I've wanted to play for a while, but I could have given more info than they did.

Watch out guys they’re over there on the TG forum……oops sorry, it’s community isn’t it and one must get it right, talking about you guys with the heading “HOW DARE THEY” one guy, yeungdavy, has cancelled his subscriptions to GM because of you guys. A little childish IMO but there you go. Come on yeungdavy get yourself over to the best golf mag FORUM there is.

Must be a great community, the most that any of the complainers has is 25 posts and the other 2 have 3 and 9 each. Great 'community' that encourages such high levels of contribution.

I would suggest a challenge on the course but TG never ventures further than 30 miles from Peterborough (all there reader reviewers play at courses within that radius) so would mean a long journey for most.

Did out of curiosities sake try & join their forum, but although I could sign up It never would let me post over there & reading through some of the things, It almost seems like the posts were made up (fictisious) by the magazine rather than any forumites.

I buy all the Magazines, well almost. Don't tend to bother with the ones from the other side of the pond. And I will continue to occasionally buy TG as well as my Faves in GM GI & GW, as they are the two better publications. Though I did spot some real corking mistakes in GW this month...

Though with the recession biting, I may well need to be a bit more choosy over the comming months which of the publications I do pick up & buy.

Looks like we touced a raw nerve there guys. Its funny how TG are starting to publish forum bits in their magazine now (wonder where they go that from). I know from talking to Mike that they regularly patrl this site to see what we are talking about and you can bet it will find a way into the following months magazine in some guise or another. They have only recently started doing reader tests etc. Why not just come over to the best forum and be done with it. I've been on their forum for a look several times and there is rarely any activity and the whole thing is just a mess

Just had another look. There was a post on TIger and how long before he wins with no replies and 15 views. How many threads did his appearance last week generate and how many replies?

Its not only quantity its the quality. We're on the best damn golf forum on the web

tbh and i may get some abuse for this but for both members of golf monthly and todays golfer to be arguing over a couple of mistakes in a gear guide booklet seems a bit petty i mean every1 makes mistakes but to then have a huge debate about it just seems stupid!!!
