This is what kills me. Medal I'll lag it and quite possibly miss it (feather it on the low side or pull it). Matchplay I'll hammer it in, no question, it might as well be given. Even the pressure ones, just remember a nice light pressure and stroke it confidently home.

Medal Sunday and I'm strangling the putter. I'd love to be my own caddy some day, I always know exactly what I should have done right after I've done the opposite.

Not a great fan of the firm and straight method as I wouldn't fancy the 3-4 footer coming back.
But judging the break and pace isn't easy either if dead-weighting it.

Me too - Rather than stand there and thump it in the back of the hole, I have to confront the 'what if you miss it' mind demon.
It usually ends up with me playing it dead weight.

I go through my standard full set up routine every time and then trust in my putter to deliver a smooth stroke (of course I know that I actually deliver the smooth stroke but I don't think of it in that way - the thinking is done in the set up routine).

Depends on the situation.
In matchplay where I have it to halve then go for it, fast and staright.
If it's for a win or in a strokeplay where the next putt will need to count then I will play it slower and as the line dictates.

Call me Three-Putt-Charlie, 'cos 3feet might as well be 3 miles.

I've so little confidence that I'll hit it on the line I want to, or that the line I want is the right one that 'firmly' is out of the question.
I always try to make it a two putt at worst....... Don't always succeed.:(
