Not sure if this has been talked about before on here well anyhow I've noticed that crowds on European tour events seem to be non existant at the best of times when watching the US Tour events the crowds are very evident.

I've never noticed that in Western Block European Tour events & of the UK event's I've been to or watched its always been very busy.

Is it not a case that at Agusta the crowds take their seats and sit in one place all day in designated areas, while on the European Tour, the crowd move around more.

not entirely, but apparently they can park their chair, wander off and come back knowing it will still be there.

I think US events look more crowded as the cameras and the crowds tend to follow the big names. A lot of the European galleries will follow 'lesser' names so as to see more golf.

Myself, I might pick a spot (like the second green at Wentworth), stay there a while so as to see several 'names', then follow a group.

In the recent Andalucian Open and Portuguese Opens I have also noticed next to nobody spectating - it does make for no sporting atmosphere.
Some of the UK and Ireland based events get far healthier crowds however. I think continental Europeans aren't into golf that much. All the courses in Spain are built for British holidaymakers aren't they?

Golf Tournaments are very much like businesses - there are income streams and expenditure streams then after the event someone has to foot the bill....

If the prize money (only) is £3m and you only get 20,000 through the gate paying saying £25 then I'll leave the maths to you....
