Tee off times

Alright gents, got a mate that fancies playing my place. Played it once with him before and for a member to take a guest it's 18 quid. Bargain for a lovely track in my eyes, but he's found it cheaper on the tee off times site. Sure you all know it. 15 notes on there, know it's only a 3 quid saving and wouldn't bother myself if I was being invited by someone else. I'd pay the fee. But he has suggested he books a tee off time through their web page and I just join him to make it cheaper for him. Know he's on a budget myself, but can't help feeling like I'm doing my club a bit of an injustice if that makes sense. Is it perfectly fine to do this? Or would you have a word and say come on its 3 notes, il get the bevvys? As I would anyway having a guest.. Unsure of what to suggest.

Cheers chaps

I'm sure the club aren't going to miss the £3 your mate is saving. Let him save the £3 and then play for a £1 front, £1 back and £1 overall.

Talk to the pro or secretary or whoever takes the bookings at your club. If you tell them how it is, I am sure they will let him play for 15 quid even if you book him in, if it is for any of the timeslots you can book online for that price. It is just nicer that way round for everyone.

I would be annoyed that the club charges its member more to take on a guest than a visitor booking a time.

I can see your point, but have you seen the prices on tee off times on certain days & times? It's practically free.

Presumably your club has agreed to the deal on tee off times? So they're doing themselves an 'injustice', if you can call it that.

Ken is right, the question is why they think it's ok to charge your guest more than a random punter who rocks up out of nowhere. And Tom is right too, it's 3 quid. If your mate is on a budget, be happy for him that he's found a better deal.

And one other thing - there are lady golfers, and some of them are even on this forum.

Speak with your club, teetimes don't offer this service for free, so your club will not be getting the full £15, remind them of this when mentioning the price

If it's £15 on teeofftimes, it will cost him £16 as they charge £1 commission as well (or at least they did when I used them last year).

Not sure if TOT just take the quid or if they take a bigger cut. Ask your secretary, he will know.

If he does still want to use TOT though, you can get an a code for an extra 10% off if you register with American Golf.

Just how I talk mate, nothing meant by it. Seen them about, but will bare in mind for next post!

I did think it was a bit odd that it would be more expensive for me to take a guest. But as someone has said on some days on this site their giving it away virtually. Anyone else checked their club to see if it's the same situation at your place?

Mine is the same mate. But each time they have been happy to do the same price for me as they then get the full amount.

If I'm taking a guest on to play my course, I pay for the guest ticket in the pro shop. I certainly wouldn't be asking a guest to pay for their ticket when I've invited them to play.

Is that the same if you take 3 guests?

What about if you take the same guest over and over again?

I will always pay for a first visit. If I take 3 guests at the weekend, it is close to £50. I wouldn't pay that but would buy the drinks.

Tbf it's his mate that just wants a knock at his place. So the golf may term them a guest. But nit really one as such. None of my mates are members. Theyre all nomads. No way would I be footing the bill Everytime they join me at my place.

Agreed, he wants the knock. Certainly isn't coming out of my back burner!

I personally think this is were clubs are going wrong. A member bringing a quest should be cheaper than on the web, this is a perk of membership. Some clubs have pay as you play memberships and they pay more than these sites, how can that be fair? To retain members clubs really need to look at things like this.
