Tech question

As most of you know , I don't do tech . So can someone explain in simple terms what Chromecast is please and do I need this to watch films from my tablet on the TV?

you.can use it to watch (cast) compatible apps on your TV . iplayer . netflix. plex. to name a few

I'm also not very good with tech,but I do have a chrome cast.
If your tv isn't smart it allows you to stream from your tablet/phone to your tv.

Very easy to set up,even for the likes of me & you.

eg you're watching the footy on your phone or Tab using bt sport app. if you had a chrome cast you can transfer it to that . there's a little icon in the corner. they are excellent

Thanks everyone. Thing is my TV is a smart one apparently but I can not seem to play movies that I watch on my tablet onto the TV screen and thought I might need one of these.

depends what your watcing them on app wise. You can also do screen mirriong wit varyling levels of success or get a usb to HDMI cable.

What are you planning on watching? most of the content producers have wised up and no longer support google chrome to play their content, so you can not cast it.

BT Sport, Sky for example. Think the chromecast is not that great these days, better off with some kind of smart device. for example, i bought a 60 quid samsung DVD player that is wifi enabled and has youtube, netflix, prime pre installed and its very good!!

The chrome cast is decent but yes, some stuff is blocked from casting by the content providers. You can cast streamed shows etc as well which is useful.

I also have an Amazon Fire stick with Kodi installed on it. Highly recommend it as it has all the apps such as iPlayer, Amazon, Netflix etc etc and then once you install kodi you can watch tv live on it. Basically kodi just gives you access to streams online on your tv, so kodi itself is not illegal

It is very good for watching golf on and has all movies and tv shows you would expect to find online.

Only downside is the amount of time it takes to find a decent stream and its all based on your internet connection
