Tax Refund Svcam - Be Aware

I received an Email today purporting to be from HMRC and telling me that I am due tax refund. It looks very plausible - says all the right things and uses all the right terminology (I used to work on the HMRC Self-Assessment IT so have a good idea of these things). However it is a scam.

One give away is that it says that refunds are time limited and will be to a card - and of course to refund to a card they have to know the card details - bingo!

HMRC will always write to you when money is involved. Delete the email.

No I haven't - but I've since checked and it looks to have been tried in the past - though this Email looks a lot more convincing than previous attempts.

As it happens I have just had one. The email address is the one I use for this site !!!

I had this ages ago , the time limit is the give away like you said , even if that was not there its the credit card details they want and will pay the refund in there ................someone will fall for it , delete and block it .........................EYG
