Targets for the year, cut or up 0.1

Wanted to consolidate single figure h/cap from 9.4. Have gone up to 9.8 before July, and that is that. After what will be about 8 weeks off before I get back to playing, I can't see any point in playing any more comps this year. The damage is done. Playing now with a crocked back would be stupid. I'm only ever going to go up.

How do you guys think you are doing handicap wise this year?

A ban on bad forum language prevents me from saying :)

I accept full responsibility though as I've opted for the 'don't practice any more' method. That said I've had a great time with my golf this year, getting out with you forum guys has frankly kept me playing!

Feck the h/cap! :D

Up and down like hookers knickers. Started at 5.6, got down to 5.2, back up to 5.7 and a lot in-between. I play that many comps that its difficult to score every time. Played a medal last Saturday and Sunday, medal on Wednesday, another couple this Saturday and Sunday.

Started at 4.8 went up to 5.4 and was in despair as my game was frankly dire. Gave up worrying about it and have come down to 4.2 in the last month

That's a great way to play.
People get too hung up on their handicaps, buffer zones, 0.1s etc etc.
If more people went out to play without worrying about the handicap, they would be more loose, more relaxed and play better golf. And have more fun :)

Started the year on 9.5, with the aim of getting down to at least 8. Went up to 9.8 in consecutive weeks early on, however a burst of good scoring around may and June has helped me bring it down to 7.4. Currently 7.5 after a very up and down captains day cup. Really focussing now on club championship to get it down to 7 and going to give it everything to get a top 16 finish as this will qualify me for the scratch matchplay. It's a tall ask but it's worth a shot.

Initially it was to get down to 18-20. Now it's to have a bloody good time on the golf course and improve my standard of play. A lot of our qualifying comps are midweek but should hand in my final card next Saturday and we'll see what happens. Have to say I'm enjoying my golf a lot more now I'm not number orientated.

Started 7.9 - up to 8.1 - down as far as 5.5, now up to 5.7.

Aim was for 3.5, but I think that was too ambitious, especially as I'm not able to play quite as much as I'd planned, so I think a revised target of anything under 5.0 is in order.

I also set the target of winning a 'major' i.e., name on the board. Hasn't happened yet! I often win the Wednesday roll ups, but never the Sunday biggies.

A little bit of time yet. Alas, no play from next March as I've got to go to Borneo for a year to sort out a little business.

Good luck to all in their quests...
