Tape on Driver

I have some tape towards the bottom of the shaft of my driver to prevent damage from the top of my bag when I return the club.

A guy the other day said that this affects the balnce and hence the distance. Anybody else heard of this ?

I have heard this alters the kick point but not sure if this is right i would ask apro for some more info .....

Cobblers.

The small amount you have on there won't affect distance, or launch angle, but will marginally change the swing weight. If you are happy with it, then so what.

Murph's right, if you want some tape on the club then as long as you are happy to have it there leave it.

a bit of tape is maybe like 0.1 of a gram.

You can tape it before but NOT during a round. It would also be a penalty if you TAKE IT OFF during a round, but not if it falls off by itself - I'm sure someone can find the ruling for you.

It won't affect the club at all unless you used the entire roll!!!

I'm the same. I always put a little bit of tape on graphites.
I know with the inconsistencies of my swing, a couple of inches of tape won't make an iota of difference.
