It was about 30 years ago when I had a couple. A hole in one and a third shot at a par 5 that went straight in. Both in medals by the way.

After all these years they come alone like buses. I was the only one of 200 medal players to eagle the par 5 9th at Royal Musselburgh a couple of weeks back. That was a drive, a 5 wood and a single putt. Again in last Sunday’s sweep I done the same. This time a drive, a 4 iron and a single putt. By the way I was round in 73, got beat 4 and 3 and I had two 2s on my card as well as the eagle……how mad is that for a fourball.

Anyway, to top it all, I went round Dunbar east links, a seriously testing 6600 yard championship course, with my mate Bob who was playing his tie in the club championship. I kid you not, I would not believe this unless I was there myself, Bob was 7 under par after 9 holes with a magnificent eagle at the 532 yard par 5 9th. Bob was 4 up at the turn and the other guy was 3 under par at the time.

Sounds like those courses you're talking about are too easy! ;) Nice going though.

Speaking of which though, my local has a very short par 4 of about 230 yards. It's a bit of an achilles heel for me, because I always do something silly and it's now become quite a mental block. I could drive the green easily with an 80% 3W if I hit it right, and should be the first hole I'll eagle.

Too easy, Dunbar, the last medal the CSS was 75 and the two guys playing the club championship are class golfers. You want to get out and see your top players play. 6600 yards is a fair test and you would need to go far to better this past open qualifying course.
