I managed to play Tain in it's one day Gent's Open on Sunday the 31st July.
I hadn't played for about nearly 2 weeks and had had a very long journey up so was not expecting greatness for my game.
After a double bogey 6 and then taking 5 off the tee at the par 4 second (resulting in an NR due to a further lost ball towards the green) I knew it was not going to be easy.
I did however manage to scrap away and get 2 birdies (although they could have so easily been eagles, see pictures!) so all hope was not lost!
In the end it was a NR but still would have been around +25 if it had been a stableford round.
As for the course it provided a very stern test, even for those playing well! The rough was so thick and close to the fairways, but everything was in tip top shape. The greens especially were deviously hard and fast.
At times it felt more inland than it actually was, not a negative though.
I wish I had played it better because then I would probably have enjoyed it more and then been able to give a better review.
Nevertheless, I would recommend it to everybody and anybody, and if you can get the opportunity to play in a Open Competition there, I only paid £18 which was an absolute steal!!
However, here are some photos, I hope you enjoy them!
