Joined a new club this past week and new club has been notified of the switch. Does anyone know when my EG record will show the new home club or if there is something I need to do my end?

The new club has to request the change of home club on the system, which then requires approval from the current home club.
Sometimes the old club needs a nudge to accept the request.

Just wondering does it matter if it's wrong? Obviously people will want the correct club but what issues would it cause?

I believe that England Golf use the registration data to determine how much they charge each club in terms of affiliation fees. So one club would be charged by EG, but the other club would still be collecting the fee from the player.

So to the member it wouldn't make a difference but to the club's it would?

It’s your home club that will manage your handicap for reviews - which committee do you prefer?

Handicaps are done by golf England app anyways no? GP cards can still be added. They can still add cards no?

Seems like it has no difference to the end user what golf England thinks is your home club , ofc will change eventually but seems not a thing to worry about

There are plenty of reasons to make sure your home club is correct.

All club comps have rules about who can enter and/or win prizes, often some/many are limited to Home club members only.
It could affect which county you are in, and in turn which county-run comps you can enter.
Also it can affect if you are able to play for your club (even possibly just in friendlies) as most comps will stipulate that only Home club members can represent the club.

I go along with the answer already provided, if the new home club and old club are on the ball it could actually happen overnight, worst case a couple of days.

The home club is responsible for administration of the handicap, including reviews, adjustments, etc.
Competitions (including external leagues, matches and knockouts) may restrict entry/prizes/representation to home/away players.
At some point the authorities will probably use the WHS database to cross-reference affiliation numbers.

I am pretty certain they don't and even if they did, the data would only need to be accurate for one brief moment a year.

We were advised by a England Golf Committee member last year to rinse through our EG database and ensure we retired ex members as the Affiliation Fees in 2024 would be calculated from the the EG Db.

Turns out my old club had a request on the 15th to switch clubs. They've left it unread on the portal without actioning it 😭

Dropped the club manager and email and got her out of office until next year. Glad to see my old club is on the ball
