Hi, im new to this website and thought this would be a good first post. I currently swing like a baseball bat kind of swing but i was playing with a 2 handicapper today and he said if i still want to draw it easier i should drop the club in from a more steeper back swing to stop the over the top swing which get now and then. Should i do this or stick to the baseball bat swing which has got me down from 14 to 7 in less than a year. If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well it would have been a good first post if it wasn't your second post ;)

I think your decision depends on how far you can take this current swing and if a swing change will make you a better player in the long term.

It's not an easy or fun thing to do...

What you need to think about is how long will this change take to become as reliable as the swing which has already got you to single figures and do you really want to be making it as the season reaches a crescendo. My advice would be to think about it and maybe have a chat with your pro who'll know a bit about your game and get his advice. If its something you want to do I'd make it a project for the winter and spend plenty of time hitting balls. I'd also make sure I was doing it under supervision in case it was causing other swing flaws to creep in.

If you've got from 14 to 7 in a year you're at the stage now when any swing changes need to be under the supervision of a qualified teacher/coach. I've seen too many games unravel when people follow well intended advice from friends and playing partners - what works for them may not work for you.

A PGA professional is the only individual in my book qualified to analyse your swing and tell you what needs tinkering with.
