Superbowl - Sunday night

Nope, too stop start for me. It is a one hour game spun out to last all day. A bit like Rugby league, but more gay (can I say that?). Not going to stay up, or watch the highlights.

Now the Stanley cup? Bring it on.
Whoa!! what do you mean "Like rugby league!" it's effing nowt like it. Where is the similarity apart from ball shape. Rugby league is played by fit athletes not 30 stone idiots in armour who cant tackle to save their lives. Lets be honest here what kind of ball game is it where 9/10ths of the players never ever touch the ball. American football, the games a Joke.

I might if I can stay awake.

I watched every one for about ten years when we first started getting coverage.
Was a big 49ers & dolphins fan back in the days of Montana & Marino.
Didn't care much for the Cowboys or Raiders.

Still have a Dolphins sweatshirt, best value shirt I ever bought, must have worked out at 50p per year of wear.

Saints to win!

Used to enjoy the channel4 coverage as it was edited. Lost interest when it started live with 3 hours of adverts and inane chatter with the occasional intermission for football.

This is one of the better sides of working nights.
Two weeks ago I was able to listen to the Conference Championship games all the way through and the same tonight.

I don't care who wins really. I expect Indianapolis to be the favourites so I should support the underdog New Orleans.

Whatever the result, I expect a good game.
Roll on 11 pm

I will be watching it as I am a big American Sports fan. Like Hapless said in a reply, it's a far better game to watch if you have an understanding of the tactics / plays being deployed. Plus in response to the comment of the players not being athletes- that is highly inaccurate. Look on the internet at some of the records posted by COLLEGE football players in various recognized tests: be it the bleep test or a bench press 1rm. Professionals would no doubt take this a degree further still. I will however accept that it is perhaps boring from the stop start aspect. Whilst to many the ever present over exuberance of our colonial cousins seems to be another fair shout in not liking the sport. Overall though it is definitely something that will keep me entertained provided I can fight off the call of my bed, which is unfortunately being heightened during a spout of illness.

The Stanley cup shout was a great one though. In order of preference my American sport rankings (for the 'Big Four', and it is tight between 2 + 3) would be:
1) Hockey
2) Basketball
3) Football
4) Baseball

I've been lucky enough to have seen all of these sports in America, at the elite level and nothing gets close to the speed, thrill and physicality of some Ice Hockey encounters.

So who else is pulling an all nighter for the game then?
It's a maybe from me.. I'll be there on the sofa watching it for sure, the question is whether I'll have my eyes open when it ends ......best get the coffee pot on.

Not going to make it - got a pick up at 7 for a test at 8 tomorrow - and then a cancellation so the clubs are already in the boot!!

Love or hate the game, you can't deny the yanks know how to do a half time special. The Who !
Even after all these years, they know how to rock.

I didn't make it. Fell asleep about an hour before it came on. Didn't sky+ it as I intended to watch it.
Missed the Who-- Bollox
Got a stiff neck now

Saints did it though

After the first quarter it looked as though it would be all over for the Saints.

But the guttsy call to go for an onside kick straight after half time was risky but it worked. Saints got the possesion, and got back into the game. A fourth quarter interception and touchdown return sealed it for the Saints. With 3 minutes left in the fourth, the game effectively finished.

Went to bed at half three only to find that there was no room for me as my 3 year old son had climbed into my side and there was no bed left for me! The joy of kids!!

Rugby is the only football.

Incorrect!!! Rugby is silly - you run forwards and pass the ball backwards - nonsensical. At least the yanks pass it the right way.

I don't understand rugby. The ref will happily stand by and watch as some 6' 8" beast drags his boot across the face of a helpless opponent but get caught offside and it's punishable by death!!!

Also, I hate the way a rugby fan informs you that he's a rugby fan. They do it in such a way as to make out that being a rugby supporter makes you more intelligent and a better class of person. No it doesn't. It means you're from somewhere north of Watford and you're probably married to your Sister (which, by the way, is positively encouraged in Colchester)!!!

The luge is the best sport in the world!!! No protection, on nothing more than a tin tray with blades at 100mph - MENTAL!!!

You're from Oz - I'll let you off the rugby thing - you've got other worries - namely Aussie rules football (muscle bound men in tight shorts - NUFF said).....
