Sub 3 hour rounds

If you wish to start quoting people then at least get your facts right. The use of that word was aimed at the people who think it is ok to go into the clubhouse, sink a few pints, then get in their car to drive home.

No, you are wrong - I can find the original thread if you wish. The thread was about drinking on the course, you said, and I paraphrase here, that people that did this (had the odd beer during a round )were the sort of retards who then go and have a few more in the clubhouse and then drive home. You distinctly stated that, it wasn't solely about drinking in the clubhouse and then driving home. You made it clear that anyone drinking on the course was obviously a drink driver and a retard (actually I think drunk drivers are but that's by the by).

At no point did I say that, or did I imply that. I know what I wrote and maybe that word was wrong to use, but I aimed it at people who go do not see a problem with driving while drunk. So try and get your facts straight.

Not how I read it and there were a good few other posters who seen it the way I did and told you so. Selective memory maybe...

Anyway back on track this is about sub 3 hour rounds and one of the reasons we have rounds going over 3 1/2 hours is down to the Chompers, Diggers Society Golfers & the Weekend Warriors.

A player shooting 72 will take less time than a guy shooting 102. Think about it.

That quote made me laugh, most tour comps take at least 5 hours to get round and many shoot sub 70 rounds, and are only 3 or 2 balls.

I usually take around 4hours in a comp and have recently shot 106 in them, figure. Its all about preperation for your shot at the right time, and being ready to play when its your turn. With pro's not having to clean clubs rake bunkers etc they should be round in 4 hours tops

chrisd,

Sorry mate but someone needs to have a word with this slow guy in your group and if necessary, ban him from playing early. A 2 hole gap between 2nd and 3rd groups isn't acceptable.

Agreed, I will let you get on and do that then!

It's definitely a state of mind, about your pace of play and the pace of others you will accept. I've been a member at my place for over a year, I've had one 4 hour 4 ball in that time, this is sloooow. Typically it's 3.30 for a 3 ball in medal play, I got around in 2.30 ish last sat am in a 2 ball. There are no prizes for this but it does feel good to play without all of the messing about.

I suppose the key maybe is the course is 6300 with no distance between green & tee.

The slowest rounds I have are society rounds where some have no clue about pace of play:confused:

Do you know if they were from the Diggers Society

If you wish to be correct, I made the comment as I find it hard that people who have a couple of beers on the course would go into the clubhouse and not have any more, am I right or not? But hey like was said on that post, there is nothing wrong with a few beers on the course then driving home afterwards. So take my comment what ever way you want. It may have been taken off and I was man enough to then issue an apology for the use of that word, but it does not change the way I think of people that have a few then drive.

post 17, yours - To all the people who drink a few on the course I hope the police are sat outside your golf club to take your licence off you. Because no doubt if you are the type who has to drink on the course you will sink another couple in the bar afterwards.

Prior to that no one had alluded to drunk driving, one poster had stated they felt guilty if having one pint whilst still being probably under the limit.

The post thread is here:

What I find really bizarre here Adey, for a guy that comes across as balanced and intelligent, is that you are unable to accept that you made a mistake.

Stevie, I do not want to get into a discussion regarding an old thread, but I have just been reading through what I wrote and it does state that I aimed what I said at people who drink and drive. I did also apologize for my choice of words.

But that is old news now......

I've played a few times at a couple of the courses in Bomber's sig.

Neither are sub 3 hour round courses - for a 4-ball.

I'd be interested to know how long the GM vs HDID matches took at Levin - which is the quicker of the 2 imo.

@ChrisD

I agree with Craw about the need to educate the ex-Captain. How it's done may be an issue, but it's certainly necessary.

And according to the Etiquette section of The Rules, if you fall a hole behind the group in front, you should invite the following group through - irrespective of whether they are pushing you or not. What many don't/choose not to comprehend is that 'falling a hole behind' is different from being 'out of position'.

Personally, I think the 3 hour 18 hole 4-ball round is, like Nessie, a myth. Craw may bleat on about it, but seems to only just manage it on his own! And Bomber's just talking (his usual?) tripe imo.

Not sure I ever mentioned sub 3 hour rounds, I said 3 - 3 1/2 hour rounds which are all achievable at the courses you say you have played and which should be achievable at most courses unless the Weekend Warriors are out in force.

"Weekend Warriors" again...:blah:

You're clearly trying to get a rise out of someone. It's very tedious.

When do YOU play your golf Bomber?

Not sure what that has to do with things but I play every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday weather permitting and if I can squeaze a game or 2 extra in then I will, however over the winter as you can imagine it may drop back to 3 rounds a week.

Not all of it ... I fall asleep reading!

Seriously - You could tell me about your knee though (in short)? Looks like your on the mend

In short Smashed my knee up playing football, made it difficult for me to hit a golf ball properly. Changed my clubs for some cavity backs and changed my swing to allow for the knee. Took 18 months for them to find a small splinter of bone that was rubbing on my cartlidge. Ended up not really playing for 2 years due to the knee.
