Had a strange round today at my potential new club.

As there was a herd of Seniors going off the 1st, the Secretary asked me to go off the 10th. No problem I thought. I then proceded Double Bogey, Par, Double Bogey, Par, Double Bogey, Par, Bogey, Bogey, Par to be 8 over at the turn. How this was 8 over and not 28 over is a mystery to me as I was all over the shop, barely a fairway or GIR.

On to the 1st. Got let through on the tee and blasted one down the middle (a SC measured 271 yards!). A lay-up, 9 iron and 2 putts and I walked off with a par. Then there followed 4 straight pars!! Each fairway and green in regulation. Another double followed by a bogey, birdie, bogey to finish nett par. A decent "back" 9.

So much a game of 2 halves. Front 9 - all over the place. Back 9 - good shots, fairways and greens hit, putts made.

I know this is fairly common among us lot, but if you have a bad 9 is it normally the front or back?

Still, definately enjoyed it again and I found 2 Prov-1's, a Nike Platinum and a TP Red so quite lucrative too.

JOIN THAT CLUB!!!

Played an odd round myself today, was 20 over until the 13th then shot two under for the last 5 holes, 18 over at the end, good shooting with my "26" handicap.

Definatly the back 9, but only if i know my score. If not then I don't really think about it till I'm back in the club house.

I had a weird round today too, didnt hit many fairways, didnt feel like i struck the ball that great yet i played to my handicap (27) but felt really dissapointed at the end as I've shot 95 the last 3 rounds and was hoping to shoot below that for the first time today.

Two clubs and a putter comp tomorrow, havent decided what clubs yet but looking forward to it.

The number of times that happens!
You go out one day and think you've been hitting the ball superbly, putted and chipped well yet you come in with 31 points or so. Another day you go out and you are scuffing it all over the place, not doing anything right and score 37.
One of the games annnoyances to me.

Played a good 9 holes today, went out at 15:50 intending to play 4 or 5 holes, managed to get round 9 holes in an hour dead, averaging 6.5 mins a hole!!

Shot 42, six over par, and might have hit 40 but for the crazy 9th where it took 4 to sink the ball after my tee shot landed 5 yards from the green :)

I'd take a rubbish round let alone a strange one at the moment as I just haven't been able to get out on the course due to being so busy and a lack of light hours during the day.

Anyway no matter how thorough a warm up I do I always have a better back 9. It just takes a while to get into 'scoring' golf rather than just hitting balls varying distances which is all that can be replicated on the range / putting green before the round. This is where I loose out in the mental golf stakes I think as I seemingly can't get over this barrier. The fact that I seldom hit a good shot off the first tee doesn't help either.

Needless to say the round and income of golf balls has only strenghened your desire to join I bet!!!

I find that if i look at the score at the midpoint I'll blow up on the back! Its an annoying habit of my playing partner to tot up the scores as we go, even when I tell him I don't want to know!
