Came across this strange website the other day.

They'll sell you a set of clubs that are all exactly the same length but with different lofts. Their reasoning is that if you really love say your 7-iron, then if they make all clubs the same length as that then you'll love all of them and hit better shots as a result. Weird, huh? They say that you can use the exact same swing, plane, ball position etc for every shot, so your ball striking will greatly improve - in fact, they think it's virtually impossible to be a good ball striker when all your clubs are different lengths!

Another claim they make is that club length makes virtually no difference to the distance you hit it - loft is the only thing that matters.

Is this nothing more than marketing hype or could there really be something in it..?!

Was it Tiger Shark who used to do the same?

Nearly brought a set many years ago, like the idea.

If you struggle with ball position between clubs then I'd bet these would help.

Makes sense to me. I'm pretty happy hitting different length clubs and different ball positions so don't think I'd rush out to buy some though.

here's a thing....

take a 15º 3 wood, and take a 15º hybrid. hit both of them. The 3 wood will go further... I know there's things like head size involved, but the main reason you'll hit it further, is that it has extra shaft length.

extra shaft length = more leverage. it's simple physics.

shorter = easier to control.

since most of us struggle with the control aspect of the game, then it might be a good thing, but if it's distance you want, then longer shafts are a must.

I read the first line of the sales pitch:

"All golfers have a single favorite iron that they hit perfectly every time they pull it out of the bag"

Not got one of those in my bag....

Absolute tosh and pig ugly clubs as well.

Playing Tiger Shark always marked you out as a hopeless golfer, beyond the help of conventional golf lessons.

I never thought of them that way but was new to the game when I first saw them.
Were they really seen as a game improvement club then?
