Stoke City ....................... how unlucky?

Deserved the victory ? Really ? I must have watched a totally different game.

Do I bring a can full of petrol to this discussion or not?

Oh sod it why not.
Yes we did deserve the victory. Firstly the Stoke defence looked at sixes and sevens every time Suarez arrived near the box which created space for Sterling and Coutinho on the attack and should have scored a couple more in the first half hour if they had managed to get the ball on target.
The Stoke midfield didn't have an answer to ours without throwing a boot in at regular occassions and I'm surprised there weren't more yellows for Stoke than there were.
Yes the first goal was lucky but the second showed how inept the Stoke defence were at times. The penalty may well not have been in replay but certainly looked like it in real time. The SAS struck again within five minutes of Sturridge coming on and for him to get a goal late on was a bonus.
There were a few times that the linesmen and ref failed to see who the ball had last come off resulting in goal kicks instead of corners.
Anywho a win is a win and I'll take it against a Stoke team that isn't easy to beat away.

I honestly don't even think it was a pen. Suarez was running away from goal& didn't have the ball(he knew what he was doing IMO)

Doesn't matter where he was running too or if he had the ball - it was a clear foul in the box - pen and then there was the Terry one as well. The ref bottled it in a big game

My post was in response to a Chelsea fan saying they deserved to beat us

We clearly deserved to win today

In your opinion

And the opinion of most bar Maureen and Chelsea fans

And Suarez previous actions should have nothing to do with it

I expect you will have no problems with Oscar not getting anything now with him being booked for diving more times than Suarez

Not the opinion of the only man that mattered tho

You're starting to remind me of Blackpool under Holloway! Sod the defence, just score more than the other team. Simples.

In all seriousness, Liverpool are one of the most frightening teams I've seen going forward at the moment and look like they can score every time they attack. That said, need to sure up at the back if you're going to really compete at the top. You are at a disadvatanged however, as you are forced to play Britain's worst footballer at right back each week.

Cissokho is a left back. He made Charlie Adam look like Pele.

Yes our defence may be our undoing, not convinced on Mignolet either.

When Coutinho comes back to form, we will be frightening, keep an eye out for Ibe also.

But that doesn't count as it's not Suarez, the man with a big target on his back for every other teams fans!

To be honest it's these situations that make me think there is a bigger and bigger case for instant video refs. The time the teams are crowding around the ref DEMANDING a player is sent off, booked or shot at dawn a video ref would have sorted it out one way or the other.

Neither Chavski or City would have won the games against us and there are several other teams who would have had great results stand instead of a chicke ref taking the easy route out of the situation.

Poor Suarez ,let's turn him into the victim hey:rolleyes:

Do need to sort the defence out LB, like you say anyone who makes Charlie Adam look like he's a footballer should never play the game agin!

Did you not sign a young centre half in the summer who was/is highly regarded (Portuguese maybe?). He must be worth a shout looking at what you have.

Re Mignolet, he seems ok, just not sure he's much, or any, of an improvement on Reina? Did he fall out with Rogers or something?

Was talking about Johnson, the only defender to have never won a header or a 50/50!

Quite liked Cissokho, although gave Charlie too much space. You could have been in a bit more danger if he'd have been able to put a decent ball in today.

I like Mignolet and don't think you're a million miles away from a properly solid team. An injury to Suarez would be very worrying for you but, if he can stay fit and you can bring in a couple of defenders this month, you've every chance of challenging imho.

Yes Ilori, he has a very slight build, so I think they want him to toughen up first. Probably go on loan first.

I think Reina fluttering his lashes at Barca may have done it.

Johno was great last season, this season back to as a few years ago. Cissokho isn't up to scratch though.

It's just jealousy mate when it comes to Suarez - just happy to let his goals do the talking

Chelsea have had more players booked for diving so far - Rameries , Oscar , Hazard - all go down very easy and been booked - in the last number of years they have had the two worst seen in the the Prem - Drogba and Robben - both who get regulary shot in games

Good news is refs are cottoning on to players like Oscar and Hazard and booking them

As for vid refs - it's going up hard to implement in a game without natural stoppages

Liverpool will not win anything under Rodgers untill he starts defending properly.

For 40mins Liverpool played Stoke off the park only for the some schoolboy defending gifting them 2 goals to get back in the game.

Rodgers needs to get it sorted asap.

going forward we are immense but I have to agree r.e at the back. cissoko - for me he's pants. Also Toure looked dodgy as hell bringing the ball out.

Maybe Carra should dust his boots off :)

Cissohko and Toure shouldn't be anywhere near the team - awful players.

Would like to see Robbo recalled from his loan spell and Kelly given more playing time
