Re: Steve Elkington

There was also this incident with Monty Panesar http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...nouncer-sacked-racial-slur-Monty-Panesar.html
I think the trouble with them is they are stuck at the other side of the world and basically ignored, not taken seriously by other nations as they have never been a force in anything useful ie trade, finance, manufacturing and have to make that extra effort to be noticed.I should think England will go on to win the Ashes series.

Both examples are wrong and in poor taste, not sure you can castigate 23 million people on the back of it

Re: Steve Elkington

Someone remind me but I am sure he made some sort of huge foot in mouth comment during this years Open did he not.

A tool of the highest order.

Honorary Member of Dunbar......if I was in charge up there I would be recommending that gets stripped.

Seniors Open

Apparently after some Caddies had had some of their possessions nicked. Though apart from using a politically incorrect description, he was probably pretty much on the money for some parts of that area!

Yep he managed to insult southport residents, people with tattoos and people from Pakistan in less than 160 characters.

On a different subject that kind of brevity would be impressive

I'm begnning to wonder if you are actually Steve Elkington.

Re: Steve Elkington

Elkington had some game in the 90's and I believe won the players, when he's game started to nose dive he came out with so many crap excuses claiming he had all these bizarre allergies, at one time he claimed he was acutally allergic to grass

Re: Steve Elkington

He did have one of the best swings in golf , so said the experts , he beat monty in a play off for the USPGA ..........................EYG

Re: Steve Elkington

He stopped Monty wining the USPGA so for that I am grateful to him. As for Aussies in general they speak their mind and if people don't like it then tough, they do not worry about PC nonsense and all the other stuff that goes with it like here in Europe. As for not being a force in trade then again will have to disagree, their mining industry is massive and the trade they do with Asia and the middle East is huge, they do not deal much with countries in Europe and America because they do not need to. Their economy is one of the worlds best at the moment as well. However having said that Elk was out of order making jokes about accidents like the one in Glasgow

I have been there many times as a school friend lives on the Joondalup resort in Perth. Yes there some idiots there but there are loads here as well. As for emigrating - better weather, wages around double what you get here, better lifestyle you can see why people do. Not for me yet got to get college out of the way and get a bit of experience in the industry and then it will be a real possibility.

better weather, granted, apart from some extreme life threatening weather at times:eek:

Wages higher, granted, but the cost of living is about 3x more expensive.....

...and they have most of the scariest lethal bugs in the world....all living in Oz...time to click the red slippers, there's no place like home :smirk:

Re: Steve Elkington

When I read this I couldn't believe it, so I checked on Twitter and of course it's true. Words fail me.
There seems to be the start of a campaign to stop him from going to Scotland again. If the guy has any brain at all - and this seems very doubtful - he would stay well away.

Even as a traditional 'anti-Aussie' sort, I hardly think you relatively small sample - have you REALLY met the 12 million of them that would qualify for 'most' or is this just another (hardly justifiable imo) generalisation - is actually typical. Have you been there for more than a fleeting visit/holiday? Or have you made that decision only fro those that you encounter over here or from the News/TV?

Btw. Elkington's tweet probably still pales into insignificance compared to this one!

If you stick to the coastal areas and the cities the life threatening weather you mention does not really come into play. It is in more rural place where there is the risk of bush fires which are the worst. Also over on the East side of the country the weather is more tropical so floods are a risk but then again they are over here in parts. Cost of living is dearer yes but becomes more apparent when using the current rubbish exchange rate if you are living and working out there is really is not that bad and the reduction in heating bills more than covers it:) Again the lethal bugs are more confined to rural areas and the bush. There is not much in the cities that are not present in most warm countries, mozzies for example. The biggest risk I found is in the sea as there are some real nasties in there, keep to the swimming pools and you will be fine.

With regards to the grass allergy wasn't Ian Poulter a sufferer as well

Fine line between entitlement to opinion and <whatever>ist statements - that may/may not be illegal in one country, but not where the tweet, or whatever, was made.

Peaches Geldoff's howler is/was a classic example. Names were known in many other parts of the world - out of UK jurisdiction.

On the other hand, the way the 'Spycatcher' book was dealt with in UK was, imo, obscene and an example of how the UK government is just as capable of oppressive suppression as any 'traditional' oppressive government.

As for the US 'Patriot' Act! or the completely one-sided US-UK Extradition Treaty.....!!!!

Most golfers are ignorant rude people I know I've been around many of them .

As for the aussies then having visited the place they seemed OK to me. Apart from the Aussie golfers of course;)

Re: Steve Elkington

Obviously Elkington is a complete pillock, but we've got plenty of those in the UK. Adam Scott always comes across as been a really nice bloke so maybe Ausies aren't all bad.
