RAINTOWN
Newbie
I used a stats program called Golf shot which had the usual stats like fairways hit, GIR ,%up and downs putts per round, putts per hole gir etc, etc.
I have recorded over 200 rounds with this system.
No matter how hard I practised or how much I spent on lessons and equipment my handicap was stuck at 9. Last year I used a stats system from playingpargolf.com and not only did I reduced my handicap to 6 but won 3 open comps and came second twice.(bought the new 915 with the prize money) The program tells you how effective you hit each shot and groups them as shot types so you can work on the shot types that are hurting your score the most. I always thought my driving was costing me the most shots but it turns out that my driving is the strongest part of my game. For me it was my approach shots and tee shots on par 3's. So most of my practise this winter was spent on this area. Yesterday played in a comp and finished 3rd with 35 putts so although my iron play is improving I am not getting close enough to the hole to make the first putt but at least I know what to work on and more importantly I am seeing improvements.
Can't wait for the season to start
