Statistics

SPSS or Minitab are not bad, Excel has basic functions.

For the more advanced natured people using S or R, both statistical programming lanuages, cannot be beaten for flexibility.

:D :D
I would say for basic golf stats you can whip up something in excel for the basics or try googling one and get a free download to try.

Along with a mate of mine I've created a simple but effective excel spreadsheet which I can record each of my rounds at my home club this season on and it will give me an average total for each hole over the season as well as the gross and nett of each round depending on my handicap at the time.

It's not amazing, but will help me see the scores for each hole on each round and compare.

I might add in a GIR, FIR and No. of Putts area if I can figure out how to do it without making it too complicated.

:D It's called Statistics now, although personally I prefer Modeler (previously Clementine)! ;)

Ahhhhh SPSS and I have just been reacquainted. It's been seven years think a refresher course is required as more has probably changed than the brand name!

For golf don't faff about with excel get Scoresaver 2 it does it all for you

SS2 is the way to go. All you'll ever need and you can also record practice sessions so you can see how much time you are spending on each part of your game, details of lessons so you can look back at the drills etc and you can also give your pro all the key stats so he can see immediately where you have been having problems since the last lesson. It is dead easy to use and takes 10 seconds to store the data on the course at the same time you mark the card.

If you have a smart phone then GolfShot is a brilliant app.
Gives you GPS yardages and records your stats as you play.
Then you can look at your personal profile on the website to review your stats.

Job jobbed :)
