Tiger Statement from his web site

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.

But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.

Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult.

I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

The usual expected blurb really more than likely written by his lawyer

I'd rather he didn't bother making such a statement. "I'm fine" would have sufficed.

If he felt the urge to play another course because his local doesn't offer enough challenge or variety then that's his perogative, greenkeepers should know this and make more effort! :D :D :D

Unfortunately for Tiger, huge wealth/fame and privacy are mutually exclusive in this age.

People should leave him and his family alone but they won't. This could seriously damage his sponsorship deals but how will it affect his golf ?

I can translate

"A cocktail waitress i have been banging has had the cheek to keep a voicemail message i left and 300 texts i sent her. As such it appears i am bang to rights not only as an adulterer but also as a numpty for believing a bit of skirt on the side wouldnt sell me down the river at the first chance she got. Everything that has been written about me is true but since i have been caught out as a liar and a cheat i think it is only fair to defend my wife"

Hope that helps a little

Well, I think that says a lot and I think this has come from the man himself. He clearly has a major issue, or issues, to sort out and it looks as if fame has finally caught up with the man. Reading the above there is no doubt there is turmoil in Tigers house and mind. He gets in my wick at times but what a golfer.

It didn't help matters when she was seen at a recent tournament wearing a t-shirt proclaiming "I love Tigers Wood"...

Cant knock her for her veracity, although "I am banging Tiger Woods" would have been even better ;)

Class!!

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that I really don't care anymore - so what if he's been playing away. Is it really any of our business? HAs this never happened before with a high profile sportsman/politician/tv celeb?

Getting bored with it.

What will this do for his golf?

The crowds will not look at him in the same way.

It could work for him that all the pressure he's been under could be dealt with and he'll re-focus on his golf big style feeling more normal and less of an icon.

Other way is it could finish him emotionally particularly if Elin feels she cant go on in the less than perfect marriage.

Chances are it'll be somewhere inbetween.

Will be interesting to see how Tiger goes in next years majors!

There will inevitably be the curiosity factor and so the crowds may become even bigger to see how he plays, whether Erin is at the event and following him as he goes round and whether there is any other huicy scandal waiting to break.

I would have thought Woods would have got some pre-nuptual (sad but almost obligatory in the US these days) which would prevent any kiss and tell should Erin decide to pull the plug. To be honest as long as the kids are protected from all this and looked after well who really cares. I'm more interested in seeing how he deals with a majorless season this year and whether he can come back fighting next year

he has to make some sort of statement to attempt to keep the press at bay, and, being the US, the mea culpa bit is obligatory.

next will be Elin's 'I'll stand by him' statement.

Hey Homer is that another burd he's got on the go...Erin ?? ;)

Elin's not going to be happy if he's going for another one with a similar name :D

It's certainly a brain taxer.....

I feel more "Pro-Tiger" of late than ever, I must say. I never liked him for being a one-dimensional golf machine and found him a bit full of himself.

I think anything that shows him as a partly normal person (whatever that is) i.e. faults and problems, might not be so bad for his image in the long run.

I feel a bit sorry for him t.b.h. Even if he's done nothing other than crash his car, that's enough for me to be interested in him again.
