Hi all,

With all the snow and lack of golf this weekend I have been thinking about what golf related web app I could build.

I currently keep track of my golf stats on an Excel spreadsheet - which is good, but I think there must be a better way to do it. Especially around practice sessions, not just rounds of golf. If you have a few minutes to spare please let me know your answers to these questions:

1, What stats do you keep track of from your rounds?

2, What do you use to record your stats?

Thanks
Nick

I use Scoresaver 2. Produced by a forum member (from memory) and although it has a one off hit of about £35 it is simple to use and has more stats than you can shake a stick at. Practice and lessons can be recorded as well. The sheet to records the stats takes seconds to fill in and is the same size as a scorecard and can be done at the same time. You can get a trial version too

Plenty of free apps for stat tracking, I use golfshot for GIR, FIR, putts, sand saves, saves, penalties, birdies pars bogeys.
I Believe SS2 gives practice facilities as well. (edit my typing too slow for hjs.. )

golfshake for me. There is, or was, a cheap version or pay £10 a year for an all singing, all dancing version.

In my industry there is a saying that the more things you measure the better the quality!

I just cannot take that across to golf, too much of a distraction. I play golf to get away from all those things, not to continue them!

In the end golf is fun and I dont define my round by the number of fairways hit, GIRs, sandy pars or fairways hit. Its about how much I enjoy the time out there. I would rather shoot 105 and have fun than shoot 75 and not have fun.

1. None, but I should
2. Nothing, but I should.
Something available on a mobile device would be great. I gave up on Excel because it was a pain writing each shot on the scorecard and then doing it all again on the computer. I need to look into this.

Homer is right in every sense apart from one: there is now no "one-off hit". Scoresaver 2 is now free software and can be downloaded (no registration required, no email or address details or anything) from our website.

Why? Well, Scoresaver 2 is Windows only and the world ain't like that any more. We will continue to develop SS2 for Windows and release it free but the code (there is a lot of it...) is not transferable to Web/Mac/Android/mobile versions. Anyway, there is already some very good software and apps out there if you don't have Windows or hate MicroSoft with a passion. We have added an option in the free version to "chip-in to our development fund" via PayPal but this is entirely optional and is not required to use Scoresaver 2 free forever.

Thanks to all the forumers and golfers who have supported it over the years and to GM for the favourable review in 2007.
