Just annoying or not on?
Big stableford competition on Saturday morning.
We arrive and wait until the pro shop opens at 07:30. We sign in for the comp, pay our money and head to the first tee. Quick chat to the starter and away we go. Just about to putt out on the first for par (net birdie) and three points when the starter arrives in his buggie and says the competition secretary has phoned to say it should actually be a medal and not a stableford. Highly peed off I proceed to leave the putt short (medal/stableford I know it shouldn't make a difference but for some reason it does). Move to the second and unbelievably we are just putting out again when the starter flies up in his buggie and says the pro has just arrived and the comp secretary was wrong and it actually should be a stableford. I then lose my head completely and have a shocking round culminating in not bothering to hand my card in.
Question is?
Should I write a formal letter of complaint as not only did it cost me money but will have gone up .1

Yes complain it will make you feel better...

An annoying scenario but does the type of comp really actually affect your birdie putt? And subsequently the rest of your round?
How can there be such a mix up over a major board comp are the rules for these not set out at the start of the season?

If that little mix up is really to blame for a ruined round, I will be very surprised. It shouldn't matter what type of competition it is, you should always be aiming for the lowest score possibly, surely?

I'd not complain too much since you didn't even hand in your card.

Still cant see why people get so uptight about Medal or Stableford. Its a strokeplay competition and you want to take as few strokes as possible to get round.

Seems strange that there was any debate over what type of comp it was, ours are all set out in the club diary, also, I agree the type of comp shouldnt affect your play, chill a bit and dont let these minor problems upset you.

Is it only our place that singles strokes ie the medal is played of the back tees ? if i was off the blue tees id know it was strokes , off the white its stableford .. ?

If he came up to me and i ready to play a shot that would pee me off rather than a mix up in the format , wait til the shots have been played then approach . or as we are walking up after playing approach shot ..
