Hi all, I have finally played Southerness Golf Club and it was absolutley amazing, i loved every second of it and would reccomend it to anyone!!

I agree chips its a great course, one of my favorites. Got to say its probably the toughest course ive played. I play off 6 and struggled to break 90 last time i played it.
How did you get on?

Lol I play off 13 and went round in 77. Ithink/hope im in for a hefty cut this season as i seem to be breaking 80 each time i play now. I think one of the best parts of the day was a couple of guys asked me to join them and after the round one of them gave me his number and told me to get in touch with him before i come up and he will sign me in.. he is also a member of Dumfries County which is also a top course.

Thanx Iain but to be honest there wasnt a breath of wind and i even caught the sun.... Scotters in February and i got a Bronzie and shot 77 on Southerness you couldnt make it up lol

I agree i really enjoy playing Southerness on my yearly jaunt to Scotland.Tough test and playing in the middle of nowhere is a big change for me

Great score of 77 mate isnt SSS 73 round there

Hi, its 73 off the whites but only 69 off yellows which i played off (wish it was off whites and 73, there was only a couple of yards difference at most from yellows. that would have been a great score lol). They are putting Blue Tees in which are going to be used for some European Competition later this year i think. They will be awesome, some are, id say upto 60 or 70 yards further back than the whites but the members i went round with said that members wont be able to use them

Played it last April. Enjoyed it but thought it was a wee bit over-rated given what I'd read about it, a good track but not that linksy or sandy on many holes, no dunes at all. signature hole 12 is very nice. I scored great early for 1 over out but fell apart a bit on the back 9, 9 over back for +10. Testing wind when we played.

I played it about forty years ago. I got a cheap weeks ticket.
Nothing special in the way of a clubhouse then but the course really suited me.

I have been playing it for years and it is an absolute BELTER of a course.... Should be far higher up the rankings of top courses in UK!!

Played it for thr first time last summer in a 36 hole scratch comp. Great value at 20 quid and a great course. Even played well which as a bonus!
