Up until I moved with work to USA, I played as a single in a similar area. Most clubs were happy to fix me up with groups when I mentioned being a single. Not sure about the 'new golfer' condition though.

Clandon Golf, (https://www.clandongolf.co.uk/) have very informal 9 hole rollups on Tuesday and Thurdays at about 08:15 with some continuing with the other 9. Texas scramble Tuesdays, stableford Thursdays. Not really a rollup since covid but you just need to ring up or email (rollup@clandongolf.co.uk) to tell them you are coming.
