Sonic Boom today over Cambridgeshire

Did anyone playing today on courses between Huntingdon and Essex hear a massive explosion/bang at 11.30am? Turns out it was a sonic boom caused by a RAF Typhoon. I had just teed off and was putting my driver back in bag and one of my playing partners was poised to start his backswing when there was a huge bang in hte sky. it really made us all jump and we turned round expecting to see a plume of smoke rising up and maybe sirens.
but i still managed to shoot 36 stableford points after thinking world war 3 had kicked off.
 
Yeah I did. I was at home but something made the rabbits go nuts. I thought it was someone in the garden next door.
 
Yes! Thought it was a huge thunder clap but David said straight away it was a sonic boom. Didn't stop us making the semis in the mixed pairs knockout though with a 1 up win :)
 
Yeh read that on the bbc,apparently they lost comms with a plane heading to Heathrow and scrambled a jet to go take a look, turns out there was nothing sinister.
 
Thought Amanda had just got her driver going again. Last time I heard one was down at Ashbury Manor in Devon as a pair flew through the valley. Not what I needed on a three footer for par. Makes a heck of a racket and if you aren't use to it is actually a bit unnerving
 
We used to get them all the time down here as Concorde went supersonic out over the Atlantic.
Most of the time it was more of a feeling in your belly or the windows would rattle but if they went' for it a bit early to make up time and the wind was in the right direction it was pretty loud even 40 miles from lands end where I live.
You could almost set your watch by it as it was pretty much always on time.
I have to say it's a sound I miss on a clear summers evening when you would have heard it quite clearly.
