Hello All I damaged my thumb at the start of October and not hit a ball since then, My hands been in cast forever which is now taken off and now receiving physio on my hand cause its stopped working.

I think my original problem with damaged thumb still there even after all the treatment and cast time which I'm going back to hospital to sort out.

I could play golf but the pressure on my left thumb becomes too much and i cant swing Ive been trying to find new grip that i can do with less pressure on the left thumb then i could play golf still while i hope sorting out the thumb

Does anyone know how i can grip and swing a golf club with less pressure on the left thumb

thank you

Baseball grip?

thats the grip i use anyway and unplayable with my left thumb
I need a grip that can take out the left thumb as much as possible

how is it unplayable? Most grips have the left thumb in the palm of the right hand (assuming you are a rh golfer). With the baseball grip, surely it just sits outside the left fist with no pressure on it? I'm confused.

Ive just relized how a baseball grip works and yes i can try that it looks like it might take some pressure off thank you any other ideas ?

Much as I hate to say it, perhaps giving your thumb and golf a rest until the weather picks up might not be a bad thing? Last thing you want to do is damage it and be out of action when the white tees go out.

I know that doesn't help scratch the itch! Maybe practice putting where the pressure is light? It's an unfortunate situation but don't make it worse...

As Curtis said I am with him, when asking for advice sometimes you don't get to hear want you want to hear. Coupled with the fact that there are no short cuts when it comes to physio. Those that tried short cuts ended up with permanent damage in the sense there knee is knackered and they now play golf using a buggy.
When back playing golf, I would be tempted to play nine holes and see what the thumb is like the day after.
Good luck me man.

I cut through the tendons in my left thumb and had a series of casts and splints on for 10 weeks, then 6 weeks of physio followed before I was even allowed to do some light chipping as resistance physio, if you want it to be ok in the future, then don't rush to use it or play golf until it's 100%, especially at this time of the year, mine took over 4 months, if you rush now and do more damage you will miss the main season, do the physio excercise's you've been given only and look to pick a club again in a couple of months.
